too much hype... the games aren't even that good. i think the only good ones where FF 1 and whichever one had cloud in the game (ff7 i think). i hear FF5 or 6 was pretty good but i never played either. so lets see here, 12 games now and only 2 (maybe 4) were really good in my opinion. i ask people why they like the games so much and they say graphics. which is probably one of the stupidest reasons to play a game. You might as well watch a movie (unless it's FF sprits within of course). No wonder why so many people bought into that FF spirits within garbage. way too much emphasis is put on graphics. yes i know, bad graphics can really hurt a games success (see my next paragraph) but shouldn't good gameplay count? Take a look at FF9. what a horrible game. yet people are saying "diZ GaMe rOX mang!!! dA gRaFFix yo!!!" i find it that whenever a FF game is released, people immediately call it the best one ever. because it's graphics where better than the previous game. stupid. i don't know what happened to square, they used to be awesome then they turn into this greedy company square enix. geez, reminds me of the artist formerly known as prince. i liked it better when their games had decent graphics, good gameplay.


now, on to a game on the opposite of the spectrum. Earthbound for SNES, also known as mother 2. one of the best rpg's i've ever played, maybe even the best game i've ever played (chrono trigger is also one of my favorites). the plot is great, it's almost like the game could be made into a saturday morning cartoon. for those not familiar with the game, it is about a boy named ness who is a child with special psychic abilities. a meteorite crashes nearby his house and when he goes to investigate, he is told he is destined to defeat the evil gigyas who is supposed to take over the earth in 10 years. Ness begins his journey, fighting gang members, possessed people, a cult, wild animals and picking up friends along the journey. the great thing about this game is it's originality. it's not the typical rpg. the weapons are not swords, bows and arrows but things that a child might have. baseball bats, yo yo's, frying pans, bottle rockets. the game is excellent across the board, except for graphics. here are a few sprites from the game. good, but not as great as other games on the SNES. which is why the game isn't as popular as it should be. It exceeded the ff series in everything except for graphics and marketing. but, i find that most gamers today are too superficial to not just check out a books cover, to read the beautiful story being told rather than enjoying the pretty illustrations. it's a shame really.

yah i dident like ne of them except FF7 the new FFx-2 was a real disapointment to me.... you can get itchy... wtf? lol. but i agree with u i guess.. usly the FF seriers start sith like a metor crashin into earth ro w/e ... but FFX-2 starts with a concert... the only thing good abotu it is the cloths change i still think FF7 is better lol

I personally like some of the ff games. Like final fantasy tactics, ffX, and ff7. ff8 was pretty good also. But some were just terribly like X-2. And I dont know what square was thinking when they added a monthly fee for the FF-11. I just hope FF-12 isnt as bad as some of the previous titles. But there are alot of better rpg's, like phantasy star online, chrono trigger, and probably grandia

My BF loves the FFXI game right now because it's like a never ending rpg. Graphics DO count, but yes some games put alot of emphasis either all on the graphics or nothing on the graphics.

Personally, I think the best game in the world is: MARIO GAMES!

Even if they don't have those wonderful graphics, that game will keep you happy for a long time lol =P

Oh yea and Wario is some funny ass guy =P hahas when he touches fire he runs around all psycotically utnil he can find a pool of water hahas craziness =P

Im not here to bash on your oppinions. Ive only played FF6, FF7, FF8, FF9, and FF10. Sadly ive never played earthbound, but recently ive been doing some research on it, it sounds like a great game. And who knows, I might end up liking it more than most of the ff's.

Well, it's cool. Ne ways, I only played FF9 i think and now I have 10 and X-2. Haven't played X-2 yet...

But, I thought the same as u did, thinking graphics are hot and that's it, well, after playing it, I found the STORY LINE is GREAT.

Yes, the graphics are nice and eye candy isn't bad to sell a game, but I am pretty sure people buy and like the game cause of the story each one tells.

If a person did like the grpahics and nothing but the graphics, then why people continue to play it? I dunno. But i think the stories are pretty good~

yeah, so anyway, i was watching tv, and i see this commercial for the FF game, that online one. so as i'm watching, this kid is like "loOk aT t3h gRaFfIx Yo!" . i hate those BS cinematic CG movies. they look nice, and when you play the game, the graphics aren't so great. neither is the gameplay. and everyone is spending their money on this game because they want to be part of the community. i think i'll take my real life community over an internet community (i still love createblog though!). so anyway, people are paying lots and lots of money on this stuff without thinking, "hey, isn't this a bit overpriced? maybe, if we stopped buying this and demanded better gameplay, we'd have a lot more fun?" SquareEnix is going to become the Microsoft of the gaming industry, overpricing, underdelivering.

Everything after FF8 was crap.. After about an hour of playing FF9 I decided the series had gone to sh1t and i put it away. The best ff is still ff3(US)... Best RPG game is still Chrono Trigger...

yeah i agree, they aren't all that great. there were like 3 or 4 good ones out of the many that are out there. Chrono Trigger was an awesome game, back when Square was just Square

anyway, what i'm trying to say is, EB is way underrated, FF is way overrated. EB is definitely deserving of a sequel, yet hasn't gotten it. FF has many games that didn't deserve a sequel, yet they did get one.
