Does ppl rele get less preppy and judging in highschool? or at least in 8th grade?

Hmm, wrong place... I'll move it :)
From my experience, the answere would have to be no. Sometimes they may get even more immature. In the beginning of middle school, people tend to be friends with just about anyone. In high school, it's literally all about fitting in and drama between friends..

People in 8th grade are seriously immature. The 6th graders aren't even as bad as we are! My grade (yes, i'm in 8th) has been called the worst 8th grade class so many times this year. It's crazy.

high school changes people in unpredictable ways. few of my friends changed practically over the summer! i never knew they were like that until we were moving onto high school. some people get preppy-er, others get more "gangsta". soo much drama is in everyday life of a high schooler. its like a soap opera! life changes after jr.high.........

Nah its way easier to make friends in middle school than in highschool. People in highschool mostly have already made up their cliques and just so u know u prolly wont remain friends with alotta of ur friends from middle school. I'm in 12th grade and i cant believe how some of my friends changed. I'm still friends with my best friend from middle school but she pisses me off alot too

Maybe it's just at my high school.. but everyone seems to get along fine and I think that everyone has gotten more accepting than compared to middle school. We have cliques and stuff.. but they're not really closed off.. I dunno. But yeah, high school life is like an everyday soap opera.. tons of drama all the time.

Feb 21 2004, 10:56 PM
Yeah i think so... I think they do that cause there are more choices in high school like:
cheerleading - preppy
drama - judging
and the list goes on but im too lazy to put umm all in...

i think that in high school u'll loosen up and be more of yourself. u wont care what other people think off you. ur going to be yourself. so i think that in 6th grade u think ur all that cuzur going gto graduate but in freshman year ur at the "bottom" so yeah thats my opinion.

high school and middle school...both immature. People make fun of people ranging in all ages. It's sad because you think that people would mature more but they don't. There are always those who enjoy watching others get hurt.

high school is such a rip

. almost everyone i know changed over the summer or during the school year and people you thought you once could depend on turned out to be those you couldnt trust. hs is mostly drama, love, and popularity. everyone in highschool HAS to have a bf/gf for some reason or else they are thought as geeks. to be popular and to stay popular is one of the things a regular teen would stress on. on top of all the work we're forced to do, most people blow the work off to act "cool". i think its really stupid, some choices that people make, like
drugs, alcohol, sex. its really stupid what some people have to go through just to be considered as "cool".

we waste our time trying to make as much friends as possible when in the end, after highschool we're probably not even gonna talk to them at all.

High school tends to break up groups of friends that were really close to each other before but eventually that won't matter to you when you make friends who better suits you.

I'm in 12th grade, and I'm going to say that the judging and narrow-mindedness diminishes a lot, but that isn't sayint that all of it comes to an end. I think that the social situation is better for a lot of kids now than it was then though!

High school sucks right now (sorry for the negativity).. WHY?! Because we don't have lockers and some of the school staff members aren't so agreeable. When I asked the vice princ. nicely, with a soft, kidna shy voice (iw as shy, i never talled to school administration ppl that much =T) and he was all "EXCUSE ME, I'M IN A CONVERSATION! hOW RUDE! dO YOUR PARENTS TEACH YOU TO BE LIKE THAT?!" and blah blah. He even cancelled a Pep Rally. *_*" And worse becuase even though my school partially has some rich ppl who go there, the school "supposively" uses the money on education, but they really just try to make the school look nice on the outside and the school system is screwed up >_<" I don't like school that much right now, but i'm maintaining good grades =) Good thing I'm transferring to a different school. I can't stand it anymore.
O yea, and YOU ALL HAVE LOCKERS ARE YOUR SCHOOLS?!?! OMG My school doesn't! in the words of my spanish teacher : "This school is el-cheapo..."

high school is okay...
i've been to like two high schools.. and i think that transfering has both its ups and downs..
for one thing.. i really miss my friends in my old school.. (this was in the Philippines) classes there were interesting but the teachers are not good at all.. they're not even close to giving proper instructions.. hehehe.. (no offense but it's sooo true!)
as for my current school (mission high school in SF), it's really good.. not saying that it's the best, but it's better than my old one.. programs here are really fantastic.. especially the mock trial! (woohoo!! ^_^) then uhm.. there's also this law academy thingy.. because of this, i was able to get a job at a law firm.. and it's really sweet!! 10.50 an hour!! omg!! hehehe.. but that's besides the point.. the point is, mission high school is really great, regardless of what others say..
yea, there may be a bad seed every now and then, but that doesn't mean that the school itself is bad.. it's just the students.. they need more nurturing and disciplining, that's all..
hehe.. so yea..
i'm really gonna miss my school once i graduate in june.. *sobs* but i'll go back and visit every now and then..

8th and 9th graders are usually immature and still act very childish. after awhile you get the whole idea of what high school is and find your niche; groups of friends to hang out and you slowly change to being who you are. i mean high school is fun if you make it FUN. i mean i joined clubs and ASB so im involve so i can say "HIGH SCHOOL was the best years of my life" but if your one of those people who just go to school everyday and "talk crap" about the activities then know you put that upon yourself to not make a differences.
it nothing different from middle school except more strict rules and narks (campus supervisors) also there might be discrimination, fights, drama here and there. its normal since that teaches you to be open minded and good for the real situation in the REAL WORLD.

actually i find the freshman are too eager to fit in and prove that they are cool so they always have this attitude about them. they always tend to be cliquey and really dont like talking to other people, unless of course they're upperclassmen. Once you get to be seniors you realize most of it is all jsut stupid bs. When I was a senior i was friends w/ a bunch of people i wasn't friends w/ before. People that I thought were stuck up or annoying really weren't and were actually nice people. just takes time to adjust i guess. but in the end college is where its at ;p

yeah a lot of people tend to get cocky and it is true the friends you were with at the beginning of high school may never be your friends at the end of high school. things change people change and thats one thing you have to learn about high school. as a matter of fact, people may start acting cool and leave their friends for other friends and i think its stupid but yo ucant do anything about it. the ones that normally stay and keep in touch after high school are normally your true good friends. the ones that dont just suddenly fades away.

all the popular girls in my 7th grade is irritatingly ridiculously skinny. i don't just mean a worked out body. i mean "skin tightening around the bone" skinny! and i dont think i'll EVER be like that unless I get my bones shrunken or sumthing!!! XP
well since u see a lot of cliques in Highschool, does all the thugs take drugs and have sex? coz hip-hop is definately me
aj637
Mar 5 2004, 10:32 AM
technically its a known fact or satistics that thugs are the ones that take drugs and flunk out of high school but for me i have a lot of friends that are gangster/thugs and they're clean. its really what you want to believe. i mean the ones that you think are so innocent might caught you off suprise and do have sex and takes drugs. its really choice if you want to go that way. i mean if you want a future than stay away from those things if not than thats all on you.
most younger girls think that being skinny is the best thing but i realized that once your in high school it doesnt matter. alot of guys goes for thickness all the way. that means big boobs and bigg butt. appearance doesnt matter thats if you want to be "known" to the guys but if you just wanna be yourself than dont change.

people have probably already said this, but it really depends on where you go. in my school there's cliques and such too from old middle schools but as a whole everybody makes a lot more friends. it might be because my school is small ~120 per grade... but i think we're all pretty close and mature

i didn't read what every one else wrote, but I'll try to answer the Q.
Sorry, in highschool is probally one of the biggest times where people get judgmental on ur butt. Compared to college which I am in now, college students, they seriously don't give a crap. Every one has their own clique in college. Highschool, u guys basically see the same people every day, so better dress sharp or else all the jocks gonna make fun of the nerds. Lol. WEll, I am exagerating, but HS seems more judgmental though.
As for the preppy-ness, I dunno. It's kinda both...

hmm i think high school was a lot better than middle school. i personally thought people got to be more accepting. i kno i made a lotta new friends. there were some people i wouldnt want to be caught with in middle school, but in high school i was more like 'yeah whatever' and i got to know a lot more people.

High school isn't as glamorous as they make it on TV.
I'd never thought that I'd have some sort of drama with my friends until this year. Sometimes you're stuck in the middle, not knowing who to side with

.
I also hate the freshmen and sophomores that try to act like they're all grown up. They wear make-up, try to get as many boy/girlfriends as possible so they can say "Look at me! I'm mature enough to have a relationship!". And then what? They break up 2 days later.
What really gets to me is that when highschoolers "go around". I've seen at least 2 girls from my school who are pregnant. I know I might sound "uncool", but I think it's best to save it until marriage. Why spend the rest of your life with someone, knowing that you could never truly give yourself to them, just because you did just that to someone else when you were 16?
Enough ranting from me
aj637
Mar 10 2004, 12:42 AM
high school is way different from middle school and thats the reason why i like it. i mean it may seem like high school has a lot of strict rules and maybe unfair at times with the punishment but it teaches you that there will always be consequences of your actions. i mean yes it is true they are those girls out there who wants to be mature and flaunt their bodies to show that they have an older boyfriend and what not but in the end things dont end up all happy go lucky. i mean most chances they'll end up pregnant and its pretty much their fault for choosing that path.
high school is basically just finding out who you are and your true friends. i mean you get more freedom than in middle school and there really isnt nothing to worry about if you got your friends right behind you.
