Was she using a cheap liner? They can be hard and scratchy a lot of the time.

liquid eyeliner still burns my eyes. pencil was easiest to use but i keep buying ones that smear easily.

You gotta kind of "flip" your inner water line out so you don't end up poking yourself in the eyeball. I know it sounds gross but it's not painful at all.

I grabbed the cheapest thing of eyeliner I could find, shit was gritty.
