Not sure if that's true, but it would make sense. It's similar to how you shouldn't use antibacterial soap because that kills both the good and bad bacteria on your hands. The vagina is self-cleaning, hence the clear or whitish discharge girls get every day; no need to douche.
It amazes me how well human bodies can regulate themselves.

I don't think you can get STD's from it
however i did hear that you can get infections.
