been a while (2 years?) since my last vector, which was the iron man and probably the high point of my vectoring.

i'm using the same gradient technique with this, but it's much more colorful and a lot more difficult to do:

anyways.... here's whats there so far:

i'm planning to vector the background too, so this is gonna be a big project.

This is going to be on a scale of epic badassness. Not even kidding. Your Iron Man vector was AMAZING.

Oh shit. That's looking nice.

Question, though. Do you use a tablet?

Blyat
yeah this look amazing!

excited to see final

done with hands and tie:

on to suit :x

Wow, I like it so far. I'm not sure how hard it is to vector reflective surfaces, but if it's anything like painting shiny things in traditional art, I applaud you.
batman
it takes some getting used to. using gradients definitely help. i think the hardest thing to get over is the deep contrasts you get with reflective surfaces. it's sort of more natural to want to be gradual, but you have to deal with abrupt changes and such. it's not so bad now that i've got the hang of it.

progressions:

the main jacket part is not done yet (obviously) but i wanted to show the base gradients :x

i am not worthy.

it's a little sloppy. my patience isn't what it used to be.
manny-the-dino
Oh. My. God. This is seriously beyond amazing. Great skills.

When it was just the head done, I was kinda iffy about how it looked. It looked about the same. Now, with a lot of it done, I applaud your skills. jw, is there a different original or is the pants and hands your own creations? Great work. I'm a big fan of your iron man vector.

here's the original.

blah i'm about halfway done with the helmet of the 2nd one... it's proving to be a bit of a bitch
Joanne
Woman, you are crazy. MELOVESIT.
batman
haha thanks XD

ahh bare my children!

tiny update. i'm getting a little discouraged though. i was talking to someone about vectoring and they were like "its not really an art, is it? i mean you're basically just tracing" and it made me rethink why i'm even bothering with this. i mean, most of the time people add creative elements to their vectors, but i usually get so wiped out i barely bother editing, so why do i even bother? it's like i spend all this time doing this vector and in the end it just looks like the original from far away.

makes me a little sad.

THE ART OF VECTORING IS f*ckING HARD

it's like playing an instrument, anyone can play it, and anyone can play a musical piece, but playing it well is f*ckING HARD and is an art in itself. composing and creating your own tune is its own art

Exactly. Vectoring is hard. When I did your campaign posters, Juna, I had TOTAL issues making sure that the shapes I was creating resembled actual shapes you would see on a face and making sure that all the shapes combined realistically. Yes, everyone will say "Oh, poo, you traced it. You gotz no skillz, fool" and this is when I whole heartily disagree.

Annddddd I just saw that there is a general topic in the Cafe so I will go rant there.

BUT DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.

POSTERS FOR WHICH I'M STILL FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR, THANK YOUUUUUU!!! I've made it to class president by now.

And yeah I probably should've posted over there...

Vectoring takes so much patience, I see it as art

How's it coming along??
