Ok, so recently something has sparked my curiosity. What do you guys know about the "Galapagos ruins"?

To the best of my knowledge the Galapagos islands were discovered in 1600-something and the wildlife there was studied in detail by Charles Darwin in 1820-something. Logically, there shouldn't be ruins there... Which is why it has sparked my curiosity.

Anything you might know about this topic, even theories, I'd be glad to hear it, thanks thumbsup.gif

Google is your friend, and this belongs to The Lounge, really. Not much to debate about.

Mate, I googled this to hell, can't find anything. In fact I found some discussion on this forum about God that mentioned the ruins, and thought I'd register and ask here. As for this belonging to the Lounge, I got no clue, im new here =/

Umm.. good point. If I were you, I should do some background research on Galapagos Islands first. Not just about the history, but also about the cultures and religions there. Try also looking at some of the geographical details that Galapagos Islands provide, maybe look into some articles that could be related to the Ruins. Another possible way is going to your local library and checking a book on Galapagos Islands, so hopefully you'll get facts on the ruins.

Is this topic for a certain project or report err something?

I looked into its history, geography and the local people. Apparently the first recorded discovery of the islands was in 1535. The only thing suggesting there could have been people on the islands before that was little shards of pots. People didn't start living there till 1832 when a bunch of convicts and farmers were brought to live on the islands.

Logically there shouldn't be any ruins.

But recently I caught a phrase in a song that said "the information found in the Galapagos ruins". It got me thinking and I googled it. Apparently, quite a few people mention the "galapagos ruins" (including a user on this forum), but no-one actually bothered to actually write some useful informtion. As for me checking a library, were I live? Forget it xD

Why am I so interested? Well, how should I put it... I'm an information whore. I'm curious to a fault and I must have answers!! xD

I guess my only option at this point is to directly contact the user on this forum that mentioned it =/(EDIT: checked again, that user hasn't logged in since October of 2008... FML)

Anyway thanks a lot for your time mate, much appreciated =D

You could try Google Scholar. Or Google books, which makes it a lot easier to scan through a book to find information about the "ruins": http://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr...ins&f=false

Or y'know, you could buy a book, too.

I think I was one of the few students in my World Religions class who actually checked out more than one book from the library for our first paper. Most others just used online databases, but I liked looking up books to check out and then finding them in the stacks. Then again I love reading and perusing books for research, so that's just me.

I remember for my English 3 research paper, I got all my sources from Google Books. Never visited a library or bookstore, just did what I normally do all day.
