Hello, fine people of CreateBlog. I have a problem, but I'll try to be as concise as possible in my description.

I have been working at my current job for a while now. I work with a machine that I have to clean. I was only trained on how to clean it once. I'm not going to win any awards for my cleaning abilities anytime soon, but in my opinion the job I do is satisfactory. However, my supervisor, whom I do not like very much, criticizes my job if there is even a speck of dirt on the machine.

I'm going to skip ahead a bit in the story, for the sake of everyone's sanity.

Recently, there were two incidents in which my boss was dissatisfied with my workmanship and professionalism. The machine contains a belt, which my boss has warned me not to stick my hand under. But my trainer taught me to clean the machine by sticking my hand under the belt, which I often do. My boss caught me doing that the other day and was angry. I told him my trainer taught me to do that, but she denied the accusation.

In another, unrelated incident, I also put my hand inside a small door on the machine, as my trainer instructed me to do. My boss asked me why I was doing so, so I responded that my trainer instructed me to do so. Now my trainer is angry at me for making these accusations, but I really don't care because I'm more worried about losing my job.

I'll skip ahead in the story a bit to a more relevant, but unrelated situation that started recently. I am working with a new female employee, but she exhibits a poor work ethic and never cleans up after herself. I have informed my supervisor of her lack of professionalism, but they have not taken my concerns into consideration.

I fully expect to be fired next week, and I will be forced to sign papers saying that my supervisors have met with me to discuss the termination, and will thus waive my right to file a grievance with the Human Resources department.

Is there anything I can do to prevent my imminent firing?

wow. thanks a lot.

my advice would be, in the future, do what the big boss tells you. try not to do the "my trainer told me to" thing, to the boss its just an excuse. apologize and get on with it.
