what is png? is it a fireworks file? and if i upload an img that is png...will everybody be able to see it or just certain people? im confused.

.png is an image file like .jpg . But from what i've seen, its better quality and you dont get the 'fuzz' around some edges like with .jpg . And plus photobucket accepts it _smile.gif . And everybody will be able to see it.

it depends on the image: how many colors used, how detailed, etc etc etc.. .

png-8 distorts the colors a bit, and it makes the edges sharper.. sometimes it just degrades the quality of the image.. you can save transparent files as .pngs so you don't have to save as a .psd file, and it's better than a .gif. however, transparent pngs are not for webuse.. like i said the colors get distorted.. i learned that the hard way ;X

png-24 is better quality, but it becomes a bigass file.. not to mention it also darkens the image a bit... when you have a multi color image, it's best to just go with .jpeg...see for yourself, take a look at the examples below:

filetype: JPG
filesize: 122k (optimized, quality 100%)

filetype: PNG-8
filesize: 88k

filetype: PNG-24
filesize: 236k

p.s. - why is this under xanga help?

thankoo ms.queentot for that luffaly lesson.

haha better to save as jpg so we're not all sitting here for half an hour while your images load (im exaggerating, but still it is a pain in the butt for even 2 minutes of waiting or even less)

seriously though, i really can't tell much difference between the 3 images unless i use a magnifying glass or enlarge the images more. however, after examining all 3 images, it's apparent that the jpeg and the png-24 have comparable quality but since the jpeg is half the size, i'd rather stick with that format instead.
