but what he says doesn't make much sense.. "Say, would you happen to have any layouts now would ya?" I think there should be some extra punctuation in there...

I don't know if there is supposed to be any extra punctuation there. But, there's a reason why it may might not make sense. It's cuz I did like at 2 o'clock in the morning.
