all your stuff is like this though. you need to think more about design. just because they tell you what they want doesn't mean you slap it all together and you're good to go. that's not designing, that's completing a laundry list. there is a difference between designing and being able to use photoshop. there should be reasons behind what you do, that's what sets you apart.
clients are stupid, they don't know what they really want, only what they think they want but they don't have the vision to be able to see what it would look like.
the photo is the most interesting part of the whole poster, and should be the eye catcher (apart from the heading) but it's small and not a focal point hardly at all. a small photo in a polaroid is a dumb idea for a flyer usually. it just doesn't make any sense when you are talking about using imagery to catch someones eye.
the font doesn't read good like you said but still...just listing it out and hitting center. that's so boring and unappealing. your type hierarchy sucks too. your credit at the bottom is close to the same font size as the real information. it should never be that way. the information on the poster is way more important than your own credit. the header text that tells you what the hell this isn't' isn't dominate or drastically more focal.
your color palette is iffy here too, though not as bad as the valentines poster. red and weird peachy orangy...that just doesn't look good together.
oh yeah and the info is written badly too. there are too many extra words that aren't necessary. it could say games, free food, singing, dancing, fashion show and mean the same thing as being all wordy and saying shit like "as well as a fashion show". that's a 6 word phrase that can be communicated in two, fashion show.
and more. i duno, just think about what you're trying to say before you start designing and you will be way better off.
