QUOTE
Microsoft launched their latest operating system Windows 7 yesterday.

And Apple had a new Get a Mac advertisement mocking Windows 7.

The ad features the PC boasting about the problems solved by Windows 7 compared to previous versions (specifically Windows Vista).

Mac is not amused. He reminds PC about the similar claims that were made in the past.

I like how FreeBSD looks.

I'd just like to interject. What you're referring to as BSD, is in fact, GNU/BSD, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus BSD. BSD is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "BSD", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a BSD, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. BSD is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. BSD is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with BSD added, or GNU/BSD. All the so-called "BSD" distributions are really distributions of GNU/BSD.

I like how Solaris looks.

I like how Solaris looks.

I'd just like to interject. What you're referring to as Solaris, is in fact, Slowaris, or as I've recently taken to calling it, slow plus Solaris. Slowaris is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning slow system made useless by the slow corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the slow system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of slow which is widely used today is often called "Solaris", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the slow system, developed by the Slowaris Project.

I like how Haiku looks.
itanium
As soon as Haiku is out of alpha (I'm talking the day it goes into beta) I'm installing it. Shit's beast.
Maccabee
Is ReactOS win?
itanium
No, it's a terrible unstable piece of shit.

also just tried Haiku alpha 1, shit's pretty unusable as is.
