Full Version: .php files on a macbook?

i just got my very first macbook pro last month.
i downloaded filezilla yesterday thinking i can do some updates on my site.
but .php files won't open. i don't have any program for opening it?
help?

You need to start up an Apache server for them to parse. As far as I know, Mac takes care of installing it for you, it's all just a matter of finding it.

I, however, run Linux so no clue on that. thumbsup.gif


You could also just upload the files to your host's server and test that way.

You should be able to open and edit PHP files with TextEdit - which is a default Mac program.

Oh, do you mean you're trying to view them, or are trying to edit the code? 'Cause as far as I know only Notepad (on Windoze) can't read them properly.

I would suggest viewing all code files using Text wrangler. it is free and much better then text edit. it hasnt been decided wether it is a simple text editor or a word processor. it changes stuff to files behind the scene, so i would avoid it.
