Okay, lol. Well, somehow the new CD drive I have messed up again so it won't let me burn anything. Is there a way I can burn a version of Linux or the Chrome OS thing on a Flash Drive to use it or something like you can do with Windows XP?

well for winodows I would use
http://wintoflash.com/download/en/.
and for linux. are you sure you are doing it right?
download this
http://infrarecorder.org/and do this.
# Download and install Infra Recorder, a free and open source image burning program.
# Insert a blank CD in the drive and select Do nothing or Cancel if an autorun dialog pops up.
# Open Infra Recorder and click the 'Write Image' button in the main screen.
* Alternatively you can select the 'Actions' menu, then 'Burn image'.
# Select the Ubuntu CD image file you want to use, then click 'Open'.
# In the dialog, click 'OK'.
as seen here.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowtoand are you getting the right thing?
its an iso. odds are you need 32bit.
and then there is the easiest option. use wubi.

I don't even get to do all of that. The CD drive will not read blank CD's at all.

Thanks bro! So if I'm reading this right, I can choose to boot Linux or Windows each time?

I personally hate 9.10. Then, I never have liked Ubuntu. Debian is where it's at.

I installed it Joseph, but how do I even start it? I tried doing it when booting up but had no option to and there's nothing to start it in my files and folders.

Oct 8 2009, 05:44 PM
It didn't even give me two options, it went right to loading Windows. I'm pretty sure I did it right, I mean, how hard is something so simple to screw up? I think so too.

Could be a locked bootloader. I've seen it on some shitty laptops before.
Did you install Grub?

GRUB is a bootloader, a piece of software that allows you to select which operating system to boot from.

No, I have not downloaded that. I will download that now.
Edit: Can someone link me to the download? There are two and I don't know which one to download or where the link is, lol.
