What is it about a cute guy playing an acoustic that is so irresistible?

Discuss. Also, share stories if you got em.

PS this would be in Girls' Locker, but no one goes there, so Relationships it is.

I lean more towards electric, actually... though I don't mind some acoustic. Merely playing acoustic isn't that attractive to me unless it just sounds phenomenal... and as a musician, I'm hard to impress. But a good voice isn't so bad either. :o
Gigi
That's true. You've got to be at least competent. But if the guy is super cute and the song is sweet and he's singing to you, then it doesn't matter as much.

^_^

Does Gigi have a story to tell? ;o

I have a thing for guys with guitars and a voice. Too bad all the guys I know suck at playing and are repetitive with the same songs over and over again. Their voice doesn't help either. sad.gif

Agree. Something about electric guitar is f*cking sexy.

Gigi doesn't sit-and-listen-to-a-cutie-play-guitar-and-tell. LOL!

Tina's got it DOWN - electric is sooo sexy. I think if I met a guy who was able to play all the most amazing parts in Paranoid Android, I would marry him. Or tear his clothes off. Or both. Preferably both. LOL

But acoustic is so sweet. It's the only way to serenade a girl.

If I was a guy, I would learn guitar in a heartbeat!!

^ Well a lot of ladies have a thing for men in uniform, too.
emberfly
does birthday suit count?
hypnotique
As you all know, I am not sexually attracted to musicians or artists. a very strong turn off for me unless its just a hobby.

Men in uniform. f*ck yes.

i never understood this. look at how many fat nasty dudes play guitars. do girls like them for it? no. girls like cute guys who play guitars...but it seems like they would just like them cause they were cute to begin with...I REALLY DON'T GET IT. to me it's the same thing as if i say i like good looking girls who wear blue shirts. the blue shirt part has nothing to do with it really because the whole thing hinges on if the girl is good looking prior to wearing a blue shirt. if she's not, then i won't like her. if the guy who is playing the guitar is not good looking, then girl won't like him.

do you just mean you like them more if you happened to see them playing a guitar? or do you mean typically you wouldn't care about this guy, but if you saw him playing a guitar then he would be irresistible.

I actually have some trouble thinking of 'fat nasty dudes' in my life that play guitar... at least ones that can play reasonably well.

My boyfriend is a guitar junkie and I went to the same high school with him. I'd seen him play guitar a couple times, but never really had any interest in him until senior year. Every guy I've been attracted to has been a musician though, so I can't say too much on the subject shrug.gif

I'm kind of with Diana on this, because I don't really find the lifestyle of musicians attractive (generally). I think a lot of women find the men who play guitar sexy even when they are without their guitar. I think it's just the fact that it shows that they are dedicated to something. _unsure.gif Maybe that?

Some men in uniform are sexy, too, but they are sexy without the uniform. I mean, if you're going to get busy with either kind of guy are you going to tell him to keep his guitar on him or to keep his uniform on? :P I think not.

You're right that the guy has to be cute to begin with, but there is something about playing the guitar that makes a cute guy EVEN CUTER. Yeah I would've thought he was cute regardless, but add the guitar to the mix...and I (and most girls) are goners.

So no I don't think it's quite right to say that the presence of guitar skills adds NOTHING to a pre-existing cuteness of a guy.

electric guitar > piano > acoustic guitar.

Loooove guys who can play the piano. srsly.
Gigi
All the guys I know that play piano are nerdy Asian types who play Mozart and scales. All very respectable, but not a turn-on. No cute singer-songwriter piano types :(

BUT GIGI HE WOULD WALK ONE THOUSAND MILES IF HE COULD SEE YOU TONIGHT

Piano is full of badassery. But I've yet to see a guy jam on piano the way my boyfriend jams to Dream Theater ... :3

It's a sweeet instrument for sure though.

On second thought, I guess I have? WATCH MEEE
That's the closest, I guess. He's such a dork, but everyone loves him. It's just not the same as electric guitar though. Video does not do him justice at alllll.

The rock band link under related = epic musical badassery. Ethan's singing, this kid Sammy's on drums, Surdacki on bass... boyfriend's on guitar on the far right. He was fiestaing too much and accidentally unplugged his own cable during the solo though :( Song is Led Zeppelin's Rock n Roll.

Who thinks the bass is sexy as hell? Tell me I'm not alone.
colddesert
I think anyone who can play an instrument is talented.. so their talent makes them irresistible. I think guys who play drums are hot, they gotz some big arm muscles.
transcendentalism
^haha, some. I like lanky drummers. They seem strange to me if they look too buff...
colddesert
Ya, thats true. I love watching them play though cause they get so into it.
transcendentalism
This topic makes me miss high school. A lot.

Chilling in the drum room with Sammy during 6th hour while he smashed drums around everywhere... fascinating, haha.

Good point. Girls never fantasize about guitar players like Dimebag Darrell, they fantasize about John Mayer. It's a shame since Dimebag could actually play the guitar well.
brooklyneast05
for real

but john mayer can play way better than "well", so we should find a guitar player who isn't every good yet girls still drool over him. (actually in my experience this is usually the case since most people i've ever known who played the guitar weren't even really that great)

I think a lot of the time admiration of true musical skill before just the guys good looks. At least for me it is. If he's hot it's just a pleasant bonus. lol
Joanne
^ Word. I kind of had a thing for John Butler before, and he is not good-looking at all. To me anyway. Plus, those too-long fingernails...

Gene Simmons is ugly as f*ck,
Yet he's been with over 4000 women.
...
and he plays 2 less strings on his guitar!
