eh idk. I don't think it needs to be retired universally is what I mean. I think the race thing was taken out of context. I just think that imo yes he did do a lot. He wasn't the first legit superstar though ya know. Did he elevate the way the game is played? Of course. Here's a question though...if Lebron equals jordans accolades then should he have his number retired across the board too?

If LeBron proves to be as great or better, if he pioneers new shit in the game, if he can be as good a team player as Jordan, if he can do everything Jordan did then yes.

personally, i feel his number should for various reasons. There is literally nothing he hasn't accomplished that he set himself out to do. Slam Dunk Champ, 14 time all star, defensive player of the year, 9-time all defensive team, 10-time first team, 6 rings, 5 finals MVP, 5 MVPs, highest scoring average in his career by any player

and this is coming from a 2-guard

not to mention everything he does that doesn't involve stats, you think when his teammates f*ck up, he doesn't bark in their ear and make sure they don't f*ck up again? or the fact that he's probably the most clutch player ever at the last seconds, free throw line dunk?

he not only transcends the sport of basketball, but also as a competitor

so lebron is switching his number to honor jordan and thinks everyone else should do the same.
