If I do build a pc, which at the moment it looks like i won't be doing because I would rather spend the money on a monitor for my macbook pro... but if I do I will use this build. The only difference is that I may add 2 more gbs of ram and maybe use a bigger hard drive.

total = 271$

It really proves how much money you save making a pc cause that was the processor I have always wanted, even though it is amd... and I could have saved a little money on a case but i wanted an led case. haha.

There was another processor that was a little cheaper and had 3.1ghz but it was oem and I want a manual and stuff.

Show me where you think I can save money. I chose that power supply because it says it is virtually silent and that is very important because it would be in my room and always on. Like the desktop im using right now is totally silent even though it is many years old.

That mobo isn't going to work very well with that processor. It's a piece of shit anyway.
That graphics system is crap, even as far as integrated goes.

I'll throw something together, and keep it under 300. You could do much better for the price. For the most part, you did good. I'll keep the decent parts you picked.

The RAM is more expensive, but it's faster, and you get the benefit of dual channel with that set. The mobo is more expensive too, but it's actually somewhat worth getting.

The case isn't all that great either, but it's not too horrible. I always go with the Antec 300 for semi-budget builds. If I'm on this much of a budget, I go with a Rosewill case.

If I make it I will take your advice.
And im glad that, that mobo has 4 ram slots and I could use dual monitors if I wanted to. Thanks.

You'll need a dedicated video card to use dual monitors. Integrated just can't handle it.

I assume you'll be using GNU with this?

Yes. Or a dual boot. Because the only software I will need is amazon music and some sort of server software like wamp or xamp. And I dont think linux has amazon music or anything like it.

I assume that's what you mean by Amazon music. That link is to the linux version.
