Since my sister's laptop is pretty much unfixable, I'm going to buy her a new laptop since it's most likely my fault for the damage caused.
I was wondering if this was a good deal:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834107029My sister mainly uses a laptop to go on the Internet and use Photoshop, but most of the time it's for the Internet. She wants something good for school, that can get a word processor and the usual up at a decent rate. Battery life isn't a really a huge thing for her, because she uses the laptop at most for 30 minutes. Would this be a good deal?

seems like its pretty good except for the fact that the batter life isnt long.
But my moms laptop battery doesn't even last more than 3 hours so i wouldn't expect that many laptops would.
However if she uses it mainly for photoshop then mac would be better since it is conisdered a more designer laptop.

She doesn't use Photoshop a whole lot though, so I don't really think she would need a Mac to be honest. Her main use for it is like using it as a netbook and doing homework. That's it. My computer runs on 2 gigs of RAM and Photoshop runs perfectly on it.

Well besides that it is 7 pounds it looks great. And to make the battery last longer just put the style to windows callis, or vista basic. It will increase the battery life anywhere from 30-70 percent.

^ That's good then, because on the laptop she did have the used Vista Basic style.

If I were you before you give it to her I would put it on basic style and turn off the sidebar and turn off startup items and stuff. Cause she wont know the difference except for the difference in speed.

^ Yeah, I was planning on doing that, because 2 gigs of RAM really isn't all that great for something that runs Vista. I would load XP on it, but I don't want to take my chances of making the tiniest mistake again.

Wait, budget.
Also never buy recertified, open box, or used laptops.
Also original Athlon is crap. it's same quality as the Pentium dual core.
Also that OS would run pretty painfully on that computer.
For the price of the computer in OP, a netbook is a better option. Even if you only get the 1.6 GHz dual core, it still has hyperthreading.
I personally suggest this one:

Good idea. Keep in mind that it has no optical drive and it has a small resolution.

^ That's fine. Since this is way cheaper than what I was originally going to get, I can shovel out money for an external CD drive.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827190020External drives are pretty expensive, but you'll still be saving money and getting a better computer.

^ That price is fine for me, and I can find a coupon code for that online most likely. I saw something for it last night when I was looking.

That's a good price for that computer.
