Now,

I own a PS3 as well as an XBOX, however I know the PS3 is practically disabled. Sales have crawled for the past couple months, and even activision (producers of Guitar Hero and Medal of Honor series) is threatening to leave sony if they don't make the price right.

Activision bluffing. PS3 is my crack. I'm glad I chose it over the 360. I haven't seen anything on the box that matches Killzone 2 graphically. I'm sitting up here on my HD-TV looking like "This can't be life." twitch.gif

I'm patiently waiting for the PS3s full potential to be used. There will be a surge.

I hope they aren't;. I would really like to see the PS3 drop in price. Blu-ray Disc players a coming close to 100 dollars now. A brand new PS3 can run anywhere from $300.00 to $500.00 dollars. They just aren't priced competitively. I can't blame activision. If the PS3 dropped in price then more people would buy it and more exclusive games would be developed for the system.

400-500, I know it's a bit expensive. Blu Ray players, however, are not coming close to $100. NewEgg the cheapest non shit one is 170, and there's only a couple there. I don't even know how good that "non shit" one is, but I know that the PS3 is a way better player than it is. A good non shit blu ray player will run you 250-300, and for another $100-$150 you can have a blu ray player that can play games (such as MGS and infamous), connect to the internet / browse, and has an 80 gig hard drive.

That is exactly why, at this point, I'd rather buy a PS3 than a stand alone blu-ray player. Some blu-ray players can do the netflix thing, which is cool but I'll be using the 360 for that.

The only thing holding me back from getting the ps3 is my distaste for complete lack of backwards compatibility. I know, connect/disconnect ps2, problem solved... but it still annoys me.

You COULD buy a 40gb older model that is backwards compatible then upgrade the hard drive on it to 500 or whatever you want, but it's hardware isn't as good as the 80 or 160 (120?).
superstitious
Yeah, that's what my boyfriend did (he bought a used 60gb). It's something I'm thinking about.

steal his ^_^

Well with E3 this year, there seems to be a good showing of exclusives and even multiplatform games coming to the PS3 late 2009 and next year which should suspect a slight increase in sales, and yes if the PS3 did drop in price especially if by 100, I suspect it will have similar affects of what the price drop did for the PS2.

Maybe they aren't popular name brand blu-ray players, but I suspect blu-ray players will drop to 75 dollar mark next year. On top of that, blu-ray is quickly fading out because video codecs have become so efficient that it's more convenient to stream movies in 720p off internet services like hulu or netfix. Let's face it, yeah, the blu-ray experience is better, but it's not 100-200+ better. Sony needs to drop the price of the PS3 to stay competitive.

PS3 and 360 have the same quality graphics. If people would release games that meet the system's potential better, you would have some stunning visuals.
-Jon-
yea but now its all about productivity and satisfaction...

I really don't understand the point you're trying to make. You're being extremely vague.
