Limewire f*cking blows.

Use Bittorrent if you're going to be downloading illegally. Standard P2P sucks for illegal file sharing.

You know what's really odd about this is that they never go after big fish. It's never little Johnny who downloaded 5,000 torrents and got sued for millions of dollars. It's always some older person who only downloaded a few songs and is getting sued for millions. That's like filleting a blue gil. What a waste of f*cking time and tax payer money.

Between my brother and I, we've downloaded about $40,000 dollars in illegal things. We torrent though, f*ck limewire.

That's exactly what I'm talking about though. These companies are fishing for sunnies when they could be just as easily be catching sharks. What a waste of time.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT ME IN JAIL JOSH? POR QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Jghelfi
and limewire now says "this song has no copyright protection on it, do you still want to download it?" and it gives you a Yes or No.

so there you go. either Dont get caught, or Dont do it at all.

its very simple.

The recording industry has blamed online piracy for declines in music sales, although other factors include the rise of legal music sales online, which emphasize buying individual tracks rather than full albums.

Because the general decline in creativity and good writing has NOTHING to do with declining music sales, I'm sure.

I love how she has to pay more now, because a judge f*cked up jury instructions.

You totally missed my point. I think that if the government cracked down on file sharing, it would help stimulate the economy tremendously.

no, not really.

In theory, mayyyybe. However, I think it's bullshit to blame declining album sales and p2p file sharing. LOTS of people buy music. The economy isn't failing because of file sharing.
drinksmokefuck
megaupload + mediafire, torrents get caught up in schools, dont wanna get fined
Maccabee
I think it would help. Obama wanted to give money to companies, which would include adobe, and Microsoft! But there are so many people that illegally download photoshop, and Microsoft word, and windows xp, and if they had bought those products then those companies would have much more money, therefore lowering there prices, and making the economy stronger in those areas.

Well, I use iTunes, but I don't buy anything else except HD movies.
I never really trusted torrents or P2P file sharing. :/
JackRapington
I heard of something called frost wire is it the same thing?
creole
I think both are P2P. ):

I lift shit off of imeem :D

=) Thanks, Joseph. Much better. haha

I don't really download much these days for a number of reasons, mostly I'm chicken shit. Then again, I don't like much in the way of readily available torrents that I can't get for super cheap on eMusic.

If they were to fine me for all the crap I've downloaded illegally, it would be probably be over half a million dollars. Any enterprise software on my computer is pirated.

Digital distribution, nobody loses any money.

it would take a hell of a lot more than buying microsoft word and adobe photoshop to stimulate the economy.

You're ten times as likely to get a virus from limewire than from bittorrent.

So true. I prefer to only download files with comments that dont say virus virus! or files that have lots of seeder. I have use bittorrent for a lot of stuff and never gotten a virus. I think I may have downloaded one file that was infected but my anti virus caught it. Its all about common sense.

If it's an archive or executable, I only download it with 50+ seeders. If it's just a single file, I'll usually download it with as low as 7 seeders.
Maccabee
Archive being rar, or zip?
I have never had to download a exe. I only download files that I feel I have the right too. No programs, music, or movies.

RAR, ZIP, ISO, TGZ, etc.

If it's from a legitimate source like Red Hat or something, I'll go for it if I have any more than two seeders.

And what do you use to find bittorrents? I use isohunt, and utorrent as my client.

Yeah the back of my mind is always worried about this happening to me, but i use bittorrent, if its 100% safe...beats me, but hey i still have a bunch of my favorite CD/artists. =)

The Pirate Bay. BitTorrent is the client.

And they're called torrents, not bittorrents.

The Pirate Bay. BitTorrent

I use The Pirate Bay, with the Bittorrent client.
But sometimes Pirate Bay doesn't have everything so i use mininova.

ohh, cool. im thinking of downloading BitTorrent since it seems more popular, but its all the same right?
&yeah, i might start using piratebay too, but isohunt works fine for me.

I was just wondering, how do you "scan" files? i have norton, is that a good enough virus program? &will i be able to scan with it?

Norton is bloated, expensive, and not very effective.

No utorrent is the most popular. And it is lighter then the rest of them.
Norton sucks. I just know that in avg, you can right click a file or folder and click scan with avg.

However I do warn you to have a good Trojan remover software on your computer before you download because the newer version has something on there but it can be easily be removed with something like Trojan remover. then its good as new
