I got inspired by Taylor Swift's song, White Horse. I originally wanted to do it with a picture of a white horse & I found a really good picture but it wouldn't work with this color scheme I'm using. So, I found this picture here and I was able to use it. I'm thinking about submitting it, what do you think?

If I should edit or change anything tell me. I saved the .psd form so I'll be able to change it within a few minutes.

This is my personal favorite layout(:

It looks alright but doesn't really seem like much was done to the image. I would've expected some kind of "feathery" border to the image and maybe a little editing or something like a nice, soft texture to it. I don't really see how the image matches the color scheme though. It's a bright, yellow/orange-ish image on a dark, gray and green layout. It definitely looks better than most of your usual layouts so that deserves a thumbs up. thumbsup.gif

i agree with mike. It isn't bad, it just doesn't match. Try going to some sites that give good colour palette ideas.

http://www.degraeve.com/color-palette/ <- this i think lets you pick a picture and then shows you which colours would fit well with it.

Does the color palette include the image? I used a color palette on this layout but you are suggesting that I should use one.

erm...i noticed the picture is from flickr...
you should really ask the photographers permission to use his/her photo in your layout. Some people don't like it when people use their images, especially without permission.
Also it could get you into trouble in the future.

I agree.

Also, I just wanted to kinda add that I'm usually not a fan of the text just thrown on a layout like that. Maybe it's just personal taste, but I think you should find a way to incorporate the text a little better. You can also play around with layers on the image to edit the image to make it fit your color scheme better. The borders around the text area look rough.

You really, really, really, really, need to start actually doing things to your images. By this, I don't mean shaping it into an oval or putting some text or brushes over it. You need to start using some blending techniques and making use of image adjustments. I'm pretty sure everyone on here has told you this already.. but I don't see it being done at all. You say you learn from criticism; here it is. Learn from it.

Oh yes, this is a must. It could get you into some trouble with legal stuff or it could just annoy the hell out of you since the owner could just spam a whole lot. thumbsup.gif
