I think that's six's point: six only wishes to download, so there's no need for a server.

Well, salivate over this: I'm in an old(er) building, in the basement, so my office is only wired with a 100Mbit connection, which is why it peaks at ~100MBit.

I see no correlation.

I use 3.6a. It's a lot faster than 3.5, but it also crashes a lot more.

I'm uploading the zip to mediafire, if anyone is interested.

They are also using Comcast, which is a shared internet connection. So speed tests are not really dependent on the browser, it also could be the cable network at the give time of testing. I have seen cable networks go from 24 MBPs a second to 2 or 3 MBPs a second in less than 3-4 minutes.

Do you live in a highly populated area?

fyi inaccurate. They may render data slower, but they don't receive data slower. I see maybe ping being a little higher for some browsers, but there is no way that actual data in/out rates can be different just because it's a different browser. Something else was causing the fluctuating data rates.
emberfly
how do you explain this, though?

the 216 ping scored higher in the upload than the 124 ping.

Not interested in beta right now. Since I updated to 3-3.5 my browser has been crashing a ton.

Because ping has nothing to do with upload speed.

Can I pong your ping, Abbey? happy.gif

Ping measures the round-trip time it takes to get from point A (your computer) to point B (the server or website you are trying to get to).

That was SO difficult.
