I'd kill to have a Radeon 9800 on this thing. It's running an ATI RAGE 128
Deospeon

ATI shucks.

ATI usually equals Nvidia in performance.

Back in the day, ATI raped everything.

350 watts? That thing doesnt have enough energy. But then again it's not like it has any hardware draining it.

Ill post a pic later but the worst computer in my house has a 1.2ghz processor and 128mb of ram. And my whole family use it every day. It is actually decent. It has xp. I have done everything possible to make it as light as possible. I want to make it lighter though...not sure how.
wwwww
Install DSL. Shit uses like 20 megs of ram.

Optical drive is broken. And my mum would freak. I doubt the wireless would work nor email attachments. I have found that puppy Linux is actually the easiest distro to use, to connect to the internet. The whole session thing is confusing though. You cant just install it on a hard drive.
wwwww
Puppy is a bitch. I'd rather work on Gentoo than Puppy.

MY SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEN

My crap computer PWNS ur crap computerz.

Im still trying to figure out how to make it really small like some of those versions of xp you can get online.

Maccabee
ive never used unix or does. do they have ui's?
illriginal
Daaaaaamn lol... I've gotta get a digital camera. I have a web cam but it sits on top of my flat panel.

Maybe I should try my cell phone camera? I don't know if it'll do any justice though.

No offense, that looks almost like my first computer from back in 1998 =x

Unix typically does not have a GUI. But you can build a GUI within it of course. There is some Unix out there that have GUI (looks like Windows 3.1 or even worst)
Maccabee
where could i find unix? And where could i find unix with a gui?
Doesnt matter cause I broke the only computer I can play with...
illriginal
lol OP... make sure with the new computer you end up having that you periodically air clean the inside. I typically do this once a month. Plus... dust really annoys me, makes me think my whole room is dirty o.O;

Try FreeBSD, OpenBSD, or OpenSolaris. Those are the only modern UNIX operating systems I can think of right now.

NetBSD. DragonflyBSD. IBM's AIX. Mac OS X. SGI IRIX. QNX. Et al.

And Unix OSes have, or don't have, a GUI in the same sense that Linux does, or doesn't have, a GUI. The BSD's come with X Windows and the usual desktop environments. Solaris does, too. Mac OS X, of course, has Quartz/Aqua.

I wanna try Solaris... but I'm gonna hold off because there's much improvement needed on the GUI... unless they're just trying to make a GUI specifically for productivity, then that's different story.
wwwww
I've got an OpenSolaris install disk somewhere around here. I haven't gotten a chance to try it out though.

You can always just use GNOME or KDE for your GUI.

People say that my cpu case is fked up.
But I say its a cooling solution.

Yes Dust does go in my CPU, I use a blower to clean it up. I neglect my PSU. I hate it.
