Man, I'm so excited for this movie! I liked Angels & Demons a lot more than I did The Da Vinci Code, so I'm really hoping the movie doesn't blow (I was very disappointed with the movie for The Da Vinci Code). From the looks of the trailers, TV spot, film clip, and sneak peek (here), it looks pretty f*cking awesome... so YAY!! I love the cast too! I mean, Ewan McGregor and Stellan Skarsgård? biggrin.gif

i'm excited about this one because i loved The Da Vinci Code. i'm definitely seeing this the week it comes out.
Gigi
The Da Vinci Code, film version, was TERRIBLE, even though I liked the novel more than Angels and Demons. I was soo disappointed. Hopefully this one will be a lot better.

Angels and Demons (novel) does a terrific job of really pulling you in and getting you obsessed with the story until the plot finally climaxes and everything ends sort of abruptly (which is my main gripe with the novel). And a few days after finishing the novel, you sort of wake up from the obsessive dreamworld of Angels and Demons and you think to yourself...shit. That was a whole lot of made-up, convoluted, barely permissible bullshit. Like, I'm all for controversial, entertaining plotlines but this one was just so crazy that it didn't really hit you until a few days later.

Nevertheless, it's bound to make for an awesome film so I'm definitely gonna watch it. And it appears that Tom Hanks has better hair in this film.

EDIT// I just realized that Angels and Demons is the prequel to The Da Vinci Code, novel-wise, and for the films it's the sequel to it. Talk about messed up.

YES OMG. I was so mad about the whole story behind the whole conspiracy!!

Yeah, it's pretty messed up they screwed with the order... but hey, remember the endings (relationship-wise) for both the books! It works out better this way.

I loved reading the DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons but I hated the movie. I'm not really expecting this one to be very good either... but who knows. rolleyes.gif

I'm ridiculously pumped for this. I've read all of Dan Brown's books (there are four) and (in my opinion) Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code were the best. He's an awesome writer. TDVC movie didn't suck, but the book was a LOT better. Hopefully A&D will live up to everyone's expectations!

I didn't sleep the whole time I read the book. The plot was so think and intense, not to mention the designs of the Illuminati symbols were mental. Hopefully, the movie doesn't disappoint like the first one. (LMAO, Ewan looks like he's about to rape somebody on that second photo. Camerlengo's crazy, man! I'm telling you.)
rizzee
it'll be interesting to watch, doubt it'll be as good as the book though

I saw The Davinci Code and I swear it was the most boring movie I have ever seen in my entire life.
brooklyneast05
just about my favorite book ever. i'm gonna see the movie but i'm not expecting a ton. honestly i feel tom hanks is too old to play robert. through out reading the other books i pictured him to be pretty young, 30's.

you guys heard that a new dan brown book is supposed to be coming before long too?
Joanne
But Robert Langdon's supposed to be in his 40s, just in like... really really good shape. Yeah, I'll have to agree that Tom Hanks doesn't really fit that description. XD.gif

Yeah! I'm excited. It's been like five years in the making, so I'm hoping it will be well versed.

Tom Hanks = God. In my book at least. I've always liked him for some reason.

I've read TDVC and I'll say the actual book was a lot better than the movie. I haven't really read A&D yet but I'm hoping I can before I watch the movie. It sounds so cool, I can't wait to see it! biggrin.gif

Good acting > Looks any day! Tom Hanks can fit into ANY character, so I'm pretty happy with the choice. I mean, script aside (most boring, droning, explanation-full script ever), he was good as Langdon.
Joanne
I totally agree that Tom Hanks is a fantastic actor!! It's just that I didn't picture him when I was reading the books. XD.gif

The images in the original post don't show up for me; nor can I see them when I click.

I passed a window display for this when I was in Manhattan today; lots of skulls. Hopefully the movie will be good, because I was not at all impressed by The Da Vinci Code (both the book and movie).
Joanne
Damn, IMDB decided to kill the links. Oh well, you can see them on their page.

I don't think I am going to enjoy it, I was psyched about it but my mind was thinking okay there was going to be actual angels with wings and demons you know with ugly faces fighting against eachother.

But we'll see I guess.
Joanne
LMAO @ "actual angels with wings and demons you know with ugly faces fighting eachother."

Alright, the fifteenth is so bubbly for me. I've got a rescheduled game (VS shitsville, so that's good), the rave (win!) and this movie. I'm SO EXCITED.
brooklyneast05
i'm seeing this tonight
-DressYourEyelids-
i just saw it. not nearly as good as the davinci code.

i really liked it. i love movies like these. i can't believe Vittoria ripped that page out of the book. and then what's his face knocked over all those books and broke the glass. i think if they had just chilled out for a while and took it easy they would've been okay. i like the name Vittoria.
brooklyneast05
way better than the davinci code movie imo. of course, the book itself is way better too, so i guess it's not surprising. i just think its a better story over all.

Saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it. The explosion was ace. Very cool.
Joanne
Shit, that was pretty damn good. I'm a bit disappointed they took out Maximilian Kohler, but I guess complicated characters like him being taken out is to be expected. The deaths were not quite as gruesome as I had imagined/hoped they'd be, but still pretty f*cking great. Good stuff, good stuff.

People were saying this movie was cheesy... I wanna watch it.. but can't find it online, not even on mega, or that youku site.
emberfly
I saw the discovery channel talking about it...

Going to see it tomorrow biggrin.gif

Ugh
It sucks that they took away the part in the book where it tells you that the dead Pope was actually the Camerlego's biological father. That's the bit that kind of ties the whole story together because it explains the Pope's affinity with science.

Otherwise, it was an awesome movie
I loved the visual effects
And the burning of the marks = awesome
Gigi
Way better than the Da Vinci Code. But it could just be because the plot of Angels & Demons makes for a more entertaining, visually stimulating movie anyway.
