Crumb topping or no crumb topping?

Discuss.
brooklyneast05
no crumb. i don't like all the fancy smancy macaroni and cheese. noodles, cheese, milk, that's all the ingredients i need.

I prefer the crumb topping, except it takes longer to make it that way (since you have the extra step of baking it). Tastes a lot better, though.

just wanted 2 say that kraft macaroni & cheese is NOT 'the cheesiest'

what about toasted mac & cheese like @ Cheesecake where it's a ball of Mac&cheese in 'toasted' breading

Seems you've committed a logical fallacy. The statement "if crumb-topped, then baked" does not imply "if baked, then crumb-topped". wink.gif I occasionally bake macaroni and cheese without crumbs, too (but if I take the time to bake it, I usually add crumbs).

^ I've had something like that before but instead of "toasted" it was fried. It's a completely different thing from mac & cheese with a crumb topping, IMO. Don't ask me why, it just is.

If it has velveeta cheese... you can throw anything in it and I'll more than likely eat it shifty.gif

Without is better. I prefer other noodles than just macaroni though.

You take bread crumbs, roll them lightly in butter, sprinkle them on top and pop the macaroni & cheese in the oven. It makes for a crispy top.

Hmm... I don't know. I foresee myself having dry mac 'n cheese if I try that.

I like cheese spaetzle better than mac 'n cheese, though (more variety, too).

Oh my god I haven't had spaetzle in AGES.

Love crumb topping, by the way. I agree with Arjuna, Kraft is crap. My kid won't even it it. Also, I'm with Tama. Velveeta is awesome.

Ick, I cannot stand Velveeta. My parents use that shit for macaroni & cheese (and almost everything else). Real cheese for me, please.

In mac & cheese, I personally use a mixture of sharp cheddar, Monterey jack, and grated parmesan (along with a bit of red pepper, but that's not cheese).

I'm so glad that I'm not lactose intolerant. :) I mix in Velveeta with real cheese, but not so much that all you taste is Velveeta.

i dont like mac and cheese much because of my childhood trama with kraft sad.gif

I whole-heartedly agree. I love velveeta. YUM!

Velveeta used to be good, but then they replaced the light with the 2% milk kind, which tastes gross, and the original is bad too. I always hated Kraft, but I recently had it and it was alright. I was a bit drunk, though, and the last time I had regular Velveeta drunk I liked it too, though I don't sober.

For some reason, I thought this was really funny.

I agree, though sometimes I do like some Velveeta. It's kinda like Taco Bell. You know it's not real, and probably grade D product, but that ish will do for the moment. Cheap-out guilt I guess idk.

It's just a different kind of noodle. (Different as in a better kind. :P )

Alright this may seem disgusting. But seriously... it's not even funny how good this is. I'll admit that I like McDonald's fries, very unique taste... a few nights ago, I got courageous and decided to make my own style of macaroni n' cheese. Keep in mind I only like velveeta cheese (anyone who's had this cheese knows how thick and creamy it is). I tore a medium's worth of fries into half pieces and threw them into the pot after I poured the cheese into it... and I must admit, it was off the gancho!

Insurmountable
I would probably say no crumb topping. Although I can't really eat mac and cheese anymore and haven't for a long time..makes me nauseated
DoubleJ
Hmmm...the only thing I know, is that my aunt makes the best mac and cheese. She uses freshly grated cheese, canned milk, and noodles. PERIOD!
