A local lawmaker is promoting the idea of legalizing marijuana as the answer to the state's money problems. This comes after DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart, and reiterating a position made by the White House following DEA raids in California. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told reporters that ending federal raids on medical marijuana dispensaries is now American policy.

I guess they finally figured out that legalizing marijuana at least for medicine will bring in more income than making it illegal, arresting people, and making us pay with our tax dollars.

Yeah, like the DEA ever "raided" or tried to crack down on drug use. It's all bullshit, they never really did anything. Why would they try to limit and crack it down, when Drugs is the biggest factor for this U.S economy.

I like the idea of getting a license to drink. (sorry, this has absolutely nothing to do with the topic, but it was on 60 Minutes and I wanted to talk about it ohmy.gif).

I think marijuana should be legalized. I'm not sure how it would make the government any money, though, unless they started selling it? I wish they did start selling it; it would be way more useful than selling cigarettes... atleast marijuana makes you uberly creative and create awesomeness... or just relax your muscles.

I wiki'd Marijuana, and I couldn't find any drawbacks (other than it's illegal).. does it give you diseases like cigarettes do? Wiki failed to mention any of that, so at least I googled before I asked :O

The FDA (Federal Government). Since marijuana would be under medical use, like steroids for example. It's illegal to have unless under a doctor's permission. The government would purchase it from other countries (such as Mexico), more than likely treat the marijuana with other chemicals (since the FDA enjoys poisoning everything it gets its hands on) then it would be sold to doctors/hospitals.

There's been studies goin on for 2 decades now and recent studies are showing that marijuana in fact has more value than any pill in the medical field.

LUL WUT?

There are plenty of things that the government doesn't sell, but they still make money off of it, such as through taxation (sales tax).
