I watched the first episode. It was terribly slow for the first 15 minutes and nearly gave up on it. However, being such the loyal Whedon fangirl that I am, I stuck with it and I'm glad that I did. It picked up mid-way through and the show looks promising. I wish that Eliza Dushku had meatier acting chops, but then again, I had wished the same with Sarah Michelle Gellar and I watched Buffy until the very end.

Anyone else catch the show? It's not bad for a Friday evening program.

(Also, I did try searching and couldn't find a topic for this, if you find one, merge away. I won't be offended)

there is a contest going for this show as well. eliza dushku is looking for myspace layout designers to do her page and the winner can fly to meet her in la.

i finally got around to watching it today (monday), because my weekends are sacred. i really hate fox for putting dollhouse on the executioner's block (a.k.a. a friday night time-slot). it was alright, and shows a lot of promise... of course, i wouldn't be saying nearly the same thing if it weren't for the fact that it's joss whedon's show. i expect it to get much much better (much like angel or buffy). the only thing that is severely lacking for a whedon pilot is this: no humor. the first episode was fifty minutes of almost perfect seriousness, it was so disconcerting. joss says the humor is on the way though, and not to worry. we'll see.

anyways, fox better not cancel this like they did firefly. i would be really pissed.

I watched the second episode. Again, not much in the funny department but honestly, I like it. Sure, it's not the Whedon type show I'm used to, but it's got a vibe of its own. "The Target" had suspense, paranoia, and filled in some history, which was great to see played out.

Really, if you haven't seen any of the episodes, hit up Fox online. The show is only 3 episodes in so it won't take much to get caught up at this point.

Nate, yeah, I hate the time slot. I mean, obviously I like the show and I can't watch it typically (I'm usually out and about Fridays or hanging out with Iz, who doesn't get to see this show. ;))

at least theres something to watch on fridays when my satelight cable refuses to work for me.
Im glad they god rid of that are you smarter then a 5th grader and the other boring game show.

I liked the first episode and the last episode but I didn't like the second one. They could've revealed more about Alpha in a more relevant plot, IMO.

Edit: And yay, Amy Acker! But her character is a major downer. Does anyone else think that Harry Lennix looks like a light skinned Chewitel Ejiofor (The Operative in Serenity)?

Ha. This thread reminded me of a recent Penny Arcade! cartoon:

That's what I thought! I was corrected though. That guy is from the Matrix 2 and 3 films.

I like the second one a lot, actually. The flow was much, much better. The third ep was good, I just didn't care for the lead guest actress much. (Great body though, damn!)

Seriously. She was annoying as hell, but she's definitely in shape.

AVC: The show has gone through its share of delays and retooling. What was going on with it before, and what was done to work it out?

ED: We shot the first pilot, Joss did, in sort of a noir style, and I think first and foremost,Fox didn’t like that feel. So there were a few things they wanted different, and they wanted the story to unfold in different ways. It was a big deal for Fox, and they have a lot invested in the show, so absolutely their opinion matters. So we retooled it, and instead of doing a cut-and-paste job with the pilot and doing reshoots, Joss just sort of went, “I have an idea that I think that you’re looking for, so let me just reshoot a new pilot.”

AVC: It isn’t like Joss is some new kid on the block, though. He has a lot of shows under his belt, and he’s got this large cult following. Is it frustrating when you get that kind of feedback?

ED: Honestly, yes. I understand it from a business perspective, and from Fox’s view, but at the same time, we’ve now done 13 episodes, and people have said that the show took off once they finally realized that Joss is best off left alone to do his thing. That happens around episode six—six through 13 are just extraordinary. I love one, two, three, four, and five, but Joss’ first script that he did after the pilot is number six, which is called “Man On The Street,” and it is just unbelievable. From that point on, the world unfolds in Joss’ way, with Joss’ speed, and it’s really remarkable.

AVC: Are you biting your nails in the interim? There are still a few more weeks before that episode airs.

ED: I think it’s going to be important for Fox and for us to really push that message. Every show needs time to grow, and it’s really difficult to set up a show, especially one with such a complicated, complex premise, that’s so multi-dimensional. We wanted—and Fox also wanted—the first six episodes to be episodes people could pick up and understand what was going on even if they were late getting to the party, which I agree with. So the first six episodes are more self-contained. But once we sort of hit that place where the show takes off, I think it’s going to be important to send some screener copies back out there to some of the reviewers that maybe didn’t jump on board the first time around, or some of the diehard Joss fans that felt they were missing his voice in some of the first shows. Because his voice is back, and it’s loud, and it’s as exciting as ever once we get rolling.

^ Thanks for posting that, man. Very comforting stuff.

Goddamn. I'm the only one who continuously watches this show, aren't I? lol
paperplane
Nope, I'm watching. I have friends who do too, so there are at least...5 or 6 of us.
hi-C
I'm still watching, too. I enjoyed the last episode.

<----- still watching, & waiting.

I've finally caught back up (I missed a couple of episodes). I really hate that this show is on Friday evenings.

Dollhouse has REALLY picked up. I've enjoyed the faster pace with less melodrama. The episode when they all got infected was outstanding. I loved the interaction between the boss lady and the science guy. (I'm awful with character names)

Topher and Adelle?

YES! Thank youuu. :)
angel-roh
I think I will start watching when it's OVER.
Cause I'm curious of who she really was.

I love how she finally got herself a leading role!
hi-C
Okay, who else loved the twist with Dominic and the other twist with Adelle? That shit had me like ohmy.gif
superstitious
Dominic was fairly predictable. Adelle though? Man, she's a bad ass. The chick was all business, even with a bullet in her gut!
hi-C
I didn't care for Adelle too much, but after last Friday I'm such a fan! She's such a cougar. I want to be like her when I grow up.
superstitious
Yeah, I'm glad that they've added more depth to Adelle. I also love the way Mellie/November (who I'm not much of a fan of) switched during her and Ballard's sequence. They need to step it up with Ballard's character, in my opinion. He's the Mulder of the series right now but plays too whiney and hysterical.

Also, I'm glad Ivy had a chance to be more than merely Topher's Girl Friday fodder.
hi-C
I agree. Ballard was so interesting at first, but now he's just lame. Speaking of Mellie/November, she's so pretty! wub.gif

Topher is such a cutieee throb.gif
anyway i love this show the dolls are like superwomen/supermen!

Yo, Carrie (or anyone else, for that matter), did a new episode air Friday? I zonked out.

^ Not according to my Hulu que-lu (what I call the queue). Damn you, Prison Break.

Well that's shitty. Next week is new, I think.

Fox has done absolutely no promotion for this season. They're really starting to piss me off.

that's because they sabotaged the show to begin with (by making it suck). they aren't going to waste more money on a show that is already a huge waste... they know that the only people who will tune in for the second season are the died hard fans, the morons, & the masochists who stuck it out last season. we mostly all know it's going to be back, cause we're all the type to be following this on the internet.

but seriously, why did joss whedon make a bad show?

I don't think that the show sucked, at first. Ok, the first episode was wretched but there was some really strong episodes. Towards the end (the last 3 or so) it got lame again.

I think Joss should give up on standard broadcast shows, especially with Fox.

Dollhouse Season 2 has started!

You can find Season 2's episodes on Hulu.com or on iTunes. There are also some Season 1 episodes on Hulu still.

If you want to start at season 1, I suggest watching the episodes here for free:

http://www.surfthechannel.com/show/73235.html

They may or may not be good quality, I'm not sure.

Dollhouse comes on FOX on Fridays at 9/8c.

I <3 Dollhouse!

This show really reminds me of the movie "The Surrogates"
