I'm not depending on you guys or anything, but I have this terrible pain on the side of my leg right above my knee. It's really painful when I bend it and put weight on it (walking up/down the stairs, sitting, standing up) but not when I just walk. It's strange.
Any opinions? I'm too poor to go to the doctors.

My knees like that lately. But then again i just started gym for the first time in like a year, but i just stretch my leg out and put a little pressure on it, but depending on whats wrong that might be bad for your knees.

My knees only hurt when I run. I went to a sports medicine doctor, and he said it was growing pains... it was more scientific than that.. it was called
Osgood Slaughter Disease.

Icing my knees helped tons.
In the end, though, you will end up going to some sort of doctor.

It just randomly started. I'm not sure I did something and didn't realize it, or what. I've had muscle aches before, but this like a sharp wincing pain. Very abnormal for me.

It could be bad circulation.. but if that's the case your foot/leg would fall asleep easily. It could also be a pinched nerve, or even a pulled muscle, or finally a deep bruise. I would definitely have that checked out.

well lets see if i can diagnose this one.
it's on the side of your leg above your knee
ice it and for the time being try and not put as much pressure on it.
other things to do stretch the leg and keep it iced then heat it or just apply icy hot to it.
other than that keep an eye on it for if a mark shows up on it or anything n if u can get a brace for it to keep it in place and at night keep the leg levitated .
if situation gets worse then yea go to a doctor

I don't ever really post on here, but thought i'd log in as it sounds like you have the same problem as me. may be a n inbalance in your quad muscles - VMO and V-lat which could be chondromalacia patella - "runners knee" - might as well be "office workers knee" as it occurs in loads of different people, ecpseically those who sit down a lot of the time. If its tight on the outside of your leg it could be iliotibial band syndrome. If it hurts and doesn't go away, get yourself to a physio. I've found that body weight half squats help somewhat.
