A Nude Walrus
mmm thanks. If someone figured this out it would lead to a lot of cool logging features that could be programmed

it is somewhat possible.... go to www.sitemeter.com and creat your own counter and account and it will keep track of the webstie the person came from... usually... if it says xanga.com/....../prive..______ where the ____ is, is usually the username of the person that came...
A Nude Walrus
hmm well you wouldn't even need sitemeter then. Just get the site they came from and get rid of the xanga.com/ with some find/replace code...
*goes to work*

catcherman16
i'll work on trying to fix something up.. i dunno how it would work but i will take some stuff from cahtterbox scripts and sitemeter.... i will tell u if i get ne thing
bdbuie
i know somebody's already said this... but it's a code you can only get by being an "official" member. woo-hoo! i'm only like ten away... happy, happy times. :) hopefully you'll get there soon too.
jeni
Waaah.. I'm such a noob.. Well, hehe I shall aim for that 50 posts! hehe happy.gif
tofumonzter
it`s really kool. and i`m using it!
lexion
That's so cool. I want this too! _smile.gif
skcorpio
i want that too
mengster
i have no programming knowledge whatsoever

but how does that function in the forums work, where it says # guests and lists the names of registered members currently viewing the board?

i'd assume it'd be much like the logger... but that could be a cool feature - instead of knowing that these people viewed your xanga... you could see who is viewing your xanga right now!
california_roxy
wouldn't that be kind of a weird idea because it would start to annoy people or when you go to your own xanga it will put you as a visitor or one of your friends go to your xanga you already know who it is
A Nude Walrus
CODE
<!-- begin code provided by createblog.com -->
<script type='text/javascript'>
// visitor logger by micron (client-side)
// for more xanga scripts and help go to createblog.com

// your createblog.com username
var username = 'YourUserName';

var log = 'http://www.createblog.com/tools/log.php?username='+ username.toLowerCase() +'&visitor=';

if (location.href.match(username.toLowerCase()) && location.href.match('home.aspx')) {
var content = document.getElementsByTagName('div');
for (var i=0; i<content.length; i++) {
if ( ( (content[i].innerHTML.indexOf('/private/home.aspx?user=') != -1) && (content[i].innerHTML.indexOf('/logout.aspx') != -1) ) || ( (content[i].innerHTML.indexOf('/register.aspx') != -1) && (content[i].innerHTML.indexOf('/signin.aspx') != -1) ) ) {
 document.write('<img src="'+ log + content[i].childNodes[2].innerHTML.toLowerCase() +'" width="0" height="0">');
 break;
}
}
}
</script>
<!-- end code provided by createblog.com -->

OR - just use that code and make your own server where you can customize everything yourself... Works great for me lol
california_roxy
what if someone that isn't an xanga user what would it put then? if they don't have xanga how would it track down who it is?
