Woah I never ever realized something was up with his aunt. o.0 How did I miss that? Eh I kinda skipped over the whole Sam thing. I was too embarassed to read it.
And I love that part where they're driving through the tunnel and he says something about how he was more than infinity or something like that. Can't really remember, but I know i was a part that really struck me.

well i read it about 3 years ago, so excuse my fuzzy memory :P

i had heard great things about the book and was pretty excited when i got it. needless to say, i was disappointed. i did not like the narration of the book from charlie's point of view. i know it was the point, but it was too childish and slow. i also didn't enjoy the ending when when charlie broke down (i believe) and all of a sudden, memories rushed back to him. it seemed like a sort of copout to further the plot.

i've skimmed through the other pages of this topic and it seems like it wasn't clear exactly what happened in the end. did aunt helen really molest charlie? i'm not a fan of endings that aren't clearly stated. i gotta have my closure.

i originally thought that aunt helen did molest charlie (and at the point of the book, i was like what the hell, where the f**k did this come from) but that might not be true? shrug.

but yeah, the book did not live up to my expectations.

I just picked this book up at the school library and just sat down and had a good read. It had me hooked, I really wish I didn't have to leave it til tomorrow. sad.gif It really touches on what happens in high school.

I actually totally dig The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The whole Rocky Horror/Punk thing was really cool. I especially liked how Charlie was so, like, frank and honest with his speech and thoughts. And he loved Sam but didn't idolize her. Also, the scenes of drug use/hallucinations wrapped it all up into a nice little package of understanding. In short, it was killer.

I know a lot of people who love that book, but I just can't get into it. I've read it twice, and I still don't like it very much. The ending was kind of weird also.

Not my favorite book, but very well written. Very honest.

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.
By Stephen Chbosky

Ugh, I love this book so much.

Summary: The Perks of Being a Wallflower is an epistolary novel written in the 1990s by American novelist Stephen Chbosky. The novel was published on February 1, 1999 by MTV. The story takes the form of a series of letters to an anonymous friend written by the narrator, a teenager who calls himself Charlie (his real name is never mentioned).

The story explores topics such as introversion, teenage sexuality, and the awkward times of adolescence. The book also touches strongly on drug use and Charlie's experiences with this. As the story progresses, various works of literature and film are referenced and their meanings discussed. The story takes place outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during the 1991-1992 school year, when Charlie is a high school freshman. Charlie is the wallflower of the novel. He is an unconventional thinker, and as the story begins he is shy and unpopular.
