Teen hurt in leap from vehicle leaves hospital

The St. Charles high school student who jumped from a moving vehicle as part of a scavenger hunt has been released from the hospital.

Eric Nava, 17, of South Elgin, had been hospitalized with head injuries following the Nov. 21 incident near St. Charles.

Nava was released Tuesday, according to Delnor Hospital in Geneva.

The St. Charles North High School student was participating in a "scavenger hunt" where players earned points for completing stunts, including jumping from a car moving at 25 miles per hour. A fellow student who was driving the car told police she intended to slow down, but Nava jumped without warning.

Kane County State's Atty. John Barsanti said this week that Nava has spoken with police and is continuing to cooperate.

Initial reports, which indicated that Nava might not survive, prompted Barsanti to announce the creation of a special grand jury. However he said Tuesday that might not be necessary, pending the outcome of the ongoing police investigation.

I can't honestly believe a teenagers stupid stunt is breaking news since I was expecting maybe him leaping from the car was him saving his life. What do you think about this/What is the stupidest shit that you've heard as "breaking news"
