top one is the original and the bottom one is what it looks like after uploading to cb. i don't like that the color fades and the text pixels around the edges. what's the best way to stop this from happening?
it was a .png image btw

you could try compensating by over saturating whatever's being faded, or whatever
or you could tell Jusun to get better hosting
I dunno

yeah i was thinking i could bump up the saturation to make up for what's going to be lost. the text being pixelated-ish is more annoying to me though.
yeah jusun needs to get on that

I have noticed this for a looong time now, but since I didn't see anyone else bring it up I figured I was the only one experiencing it.
Figure cb just has crap hosting.

so the first was a .png
is the second one .jpeg?
i think cb converts it to .jpeg after it's accepted

yeah the first was .png, but i didn't check the second. i don't know if cb converts it to jpg or not, anyone know?

So, Cb
does convert everything to .jpg . But also, on the submission page, it does say that it will be optimized for the web, so it uses one of those lame algorithms to decide how it'll look.
I just uploaded a .png texture I had and it made it a lot brighter and lost a bit of it's quality as well.

We need to talk to Jusun about this.

yeah i think we should, it's really annoying and i only tried to upload one graphic. i would imagine it's really frustrating for the people who actually submit a lot of stuff.
it optimized mine to look uglier

so, does it do this to everything or just png? would i be better off to just leave it as a jpeg?

Try saving something as a high quality jpg and then uploading it. I've had better luck by doing that. Most of my previous icons have been done like that and there's been minimal quality loss.

i uploaded as a high quality jpg and here's the outcome
looks to be about the same as last time

Then it's the optimization crap. Optimize my ass. Argh.
