so to my suprise, im getting a VPS very soon, however I have some questions for all you smart people out there, this the plan that i plan to get, im going to get

10GB HD
300GB BW
128 or 256 DR -- > 512/1024 BR
3 Ip adresses

so my dilema is either i save money and get the 128/Directadmin platform
or get the 256/cpanel/whm platform, im getting installatron instead of fantastico

but i need help picking out a distro, whats the difference with centos, fedora, ubuntu or gentoo? they all cost the same, is there anything significant with centos?. cause everyone seems to be using it? im linux btw :]

There's not really a big difference. CentOS and Fedora are from the same family of operating systems. Both stem from Red Hat; CentOS is basically a free version of Red Hat, and Fedora is a "cutting edge" version. There's not much difference otherwise.

Ubuntu is one of the more user-friendly Linux OSes.

Gentoo is a Linux OS in which everything is compiled from scratch. It generally has good performance.

But honestly, unless you're doing a lot of maintenance yourself, there's not much difference between the four. If you're just using it as a server OS, there's not a compelling reason to pick one over the other. I prefer Gentoo myself, then Ubuntu, then Fedora; I've heard okay things about CentOS but I've never used it, although I did cut my teeth on Red Hat back in the day. But I don't like Red Hat or Fedora as much as Gentoo (or Ubuntu). Anyway, I digress. Simple answer: just pick one. If you like CentOS, go with it.
