Would it be acceptable for me to go to junior prom with one of my best friend's exes?

I know my friend still has feelings for him and they broke up on good terms (because of school, not because they had problems between them) but they're not together anymore.. He asked me to prom as friends (we're best friends, too) but I don't know if I should go or not. I don't want to hurt my friend but at the same time, her ex is one of my best friends, too, and I DO want to go to prom.

I can't just ask her about it because we're not THAT great of friends. I'm friends with her through association--my best friends are friends with her.. so if I upset her, I upset my best friends too. I can't really talk to them about it either because I don't know if I'm way out of line for even considering it. =/

Help?

Then don't go with the guy that you asked you out. If you do, your "friend" will think that her ex broke up with her just to go out with you.

Tell the ex that you' already have someone to go with to the dance.

EDIT : SO you're in your Junior Year? I think by now, High Schoolers should be more mature and understand these situations, so just tell your friend about the situation, and if she feels okay if you went with her ex to the prom.

AND BTW, do you really want to go with her ex to the prom? you don't have to...

Yeah I guess they'd be mature enough but she would say it was okay even if it wasn't. And I actually DO want to go, me and him are best friends... and we were best friends before they started going out.

A little background: They broke up once before because she thought he had feelings for me. I don't want to add to the situation (especially because they're on good terms now) even though there really WASN'T anything between us at ALL.

oh. why don't all of three of you guys go together as a group? it may sound corny, but it works..

my advice
if you dont have feelings for him dont go with him
it's not really worth the drama

or talk to you friend me like "hey he asked me to prom, would you feel fine if i went with him? or not"

all i can say is think of WHAT could happen with this, the pro's is what everyone thinks but think also about the CON'S to this

i think if u guys are just friends then go with him. just bring it up casually to ur best friend nd from her reaction, you can make a decision from there.

you said that your not as close with her. and your best friends are best friends with her.. and if they're on good terms, why not? if your having doubt, save the drama. you should just go to junior prom by yourself and hang around him a couple of times.. that would save the drama that he asked you and no girl drama.
