I recently submitted a few icons to the site. All the icons on my computer are saved as .png files, I never save any still images as anything else unless they're really rough images that I only keep for ideas. For some reason when I uploaded these icons they were transformed into .jpg files, meaning they lost a lot of their quality. Is there a reason this is happening or a way to stop it? Thanks for any help

That's just what happens when you submit PNGs. The system was probably set up that way to save space. Graphics lose some bit of quality, but if they were made well, they should still look fine.

we often ask to have them saved as a PNG to help avoid a massive lost of image quality when the graphic is converted. jpg converted back to a jpg ends up looking nasty...
but schizo is right CB's servers are programed to do it.

But also, something else I've been wondering. I'll use Alex Evans' photos as an example: how come some of the graphics people make with his photos get accepted and others don't? Like, I made avatars and they got denied because he has a deviantart, and I completely understand the reasoning for that, yet a few days earlier banners were sumbitted using his photos and they got accepted?

Do you mind posting the links of those banners that you found?

Here, here and here. Last two were submitted ealier, but still this month (15th), and the first was only on the 21st. I feel kinda bad 'cause they're all made by the same person but it's only fair and legal. They were all approved by the same person as well, if that makes a difference. But actually... I think that he/she was the designer who denied my avatars two days later b/c he has a DA so it doesn't really make sense to me ._.

I never rejected any of your avatars for that reason. Make sure you read the rejection PMs carefully.

I'll go back and reject those. I don't really think of him as being from DA anymore because of his insane internet popularity nowadays. That's probably why they got past me.

Yeah but it still said that in the message, even if the sole reason wasn't just becuse he has DA it was still part of it, which was why I found it a bit unfair.
& I understand about the popularity thing and why it got past you. He really hates people using his photos as well (even though he's taken all the self-portraits off his website so I suppose they're less important to him now), & he asks people to credit him when they draw pictures of him on DA too.

Really? I don't remember ever rejecting any Alex Evans icons/graphics for the reason of him having a DA. It must have been someone else, or my brain is just totally fried. Do you still have the original PM?

Ah no maybe it wasn't you then. I can't remember whether it was in the first load of graphics I submitted or the second (I didn't want to upload everything at once). I know the first lot were mostly reviewed by Blaqheartedstar and you did most of the second. It might've been in the first lot then.
No I don't, I accidentally deleted a ton of PMs I didn't mean to delete there was about five or six, and that was one of the ones I lost.
