I like this guy and I do'nt know what kind of girls he likes.
He's the kind of guy who's quiet and is like super buff and super manly. He rarely smiles. He likes playing counterstrike.. all the time. He sleeps late, has good grades. He's really smart. He's tall and is really mean but can sometimes be really really nice.

As far as I'm concerned, you really should let things happen naturally with a guy instead of "trying" and forcing yourself to do something that you really aren't. This "trying" you're talking about - you really shouldn't be exerting much effort at all.

it's okay, you don't really need to dig into his brains. just spend some more time around him and be yourself. over the course of time if you notice that he's making some advances or that you two are just progressing very well in terms of a friendship then there may be some chemistry going on. if that's the case...

so for now, just try spending some more time with him to get to know him better
