Whenever I do my homework, the computer is always a big distraction. I see myself going to to grab a few snacks then tell myself after I am finsh I will start.
How the hell I break this habit ?

Don't do your homework in a place where there are distractions. Go to the library and sit at a table. Go in your kitchen and sit down and do your homework.

^ What she said. If you don't have the self-control, you just have to remove yourself from a distracting environment. Sometimes this is impossible for me because I need to use the computer for something, and yet I always get distracted by MSN or cB. That's when you just have to exercise your self-control.

I usually have no problems focusing on homework or studying if I've got a tight deadline, or if I procrastinated beforehand and I desperately need to catch up. Sometimes it's better to work under pressure.

Do your homework at school or in a library/bookstore. I could never do homework in my house, I'd always get side-tracked.

When I was in high school, I would go to the library every week or so to do my homework, away from my computer and all that stuff. It worked for a little while, until I noticed that a lot of my school friends go to the library at that time too. Then I just started chatting with them... and there's another distraction!

I like going to the campus library. Even if my friends are there, the reading/study rooms are usually dead silent, so we never talk while we're in the library.

I actually just plop myself on my bed with my iPod on.

When I'm sitting in a quiet place, it just makes my mind wonder, which leads to me doing something else. Music stimulates me, I guess.

just stay focused and go in a quiet place.

Try to do it right when you get back from school because you're still focused from being there for so long. Depending on what type of worker you are, you should isolate yourself in a quiet area with minimal noise or...mild noise? Whichever you wish.

I'm the exact opposite. If I play my music, then I am tempted to stop what I am doing and give that my full attention. I never really understood how people can listen to their iPods in class and do their work. shrug.gif

^ I can NEVER do that. I can only listen to music while working on math homework or something that involves numbers and calculations. If I have to actually read, understand and absorb some material, I absolutely cannot have something that is similar in information around me going on at the same time. Like, if I'm trying to memorize Biology, I can't listen to a song with words, or listen to a podcast at the same time, because there are two different sets of similar information at the same time.

Does that make sense? haha. Sometimes I can get by with classical music since there are no words, but I'd still rather have silence.
