What she means is, she's tired of seeing the same people on staff because a lot of you are unfit for the job or should have never been hired.
Why is "dire" only when you're short numbered? Why not when the mod/member relations are so bad, the staff can no longer effectively help the community? What happened to quality over quantity?

What's the difference, lol? You hire people who are uninterested during hiring sessions?
I don't remember the last time the community was given a chance to put input into who's added onto the staff team. Also, you guys are taking too long doing things that take less than 5 minutes to do. If you guys are that stressed, perhaps you should hire more staff.
karmakiller
Aug 10 2008, 06:35 PM
The difference is, is that during hiring sessions there is a thread where people apply for staff, then it is discussed Backstage and interviews are conducted. Otherwise, the staff brings up a name of a potential staff member and we discuss it and if they are interested then they get the position. Hiring sessions take a lot longer, and most of the time the hiring discussion threads for the community become a chance for people to bash each other. It takes a lot less time to hire people without hiring sessions. The last few have drug on a lot longer than they should have.

Ha ha, ay, the bashing is a problem that you mods need to regulate. Otherwise, I've seen a lot of valuable critiques done in those threads. And the reason they took so long was 'cause mods were taking so long getting their final decisions in and it got all messy and ish.
In any case, that's no excuse to not let the community have a part in the hiring sessions. You know how messed up the staff team gets when you only let the same people decide who gets hired? If you're arguing that we shouldn't have community supported hiring sessions anymore, well shoot. I know stupid but that's just dumb.

Of course there will still be events in the future, that during a time when we think there should be more staff, there will be community input. However, if there's just a couple of people that seem potential, we can't exactly go into the lounge and post. "So guys, do you think _____ would make a good staff member, express reasons why, and why not." It just wouldn't be exactly the right thing to post.
Realistically speaking, is that really how you would have done it, Thomas?

But, if you're sincere in your desire for some sort of "communication," you might stop vilifying me, and you might decide that whatever prank you hope to execute is just going to cause more trouble. I'm sure it was a misunderstanding. I got warned by James like a month ago by a miscommunication. Me and Betty (doink) already discussed it, but he wasn't there to understand the situation at hand. But I got my warning removed the next morning quickly enough.
So I don't think you should worry about it at all since it's a misunderstanding.

Aug 14 2008, 04:12 PM
James, it was not, in any way, a stretch to find a justification for warning you for member bashing, given that it's been a constant problem with you for a while now. Also, as I'm sure you will recall, but had no intention of mentioning, I told you that if Dani looked at the situation and decided to reduce your warn level, she was welcome to, but that I was not, personally, going to do so because I think this has been warranted for some time.
As I said, I'm not going to reduce your Warn Level, nor am I going to apologize to you, nor, by the way, am I incompetent. In fact, I managed to find the warn button just fine.
Also, as this is about me being 'incompetent,' and not about any site related issue other than you disliking my actions, I'm merging this to Mod Performance, where it belongs.
