Honestly, the only reason I'm making this topic is because both Obama and McCain are coming to campus today and making speeches later this afternoon.
But, we DID have the President of Iran, various ambassadors, senators, and such come last year (and every other year) as well.. so :D

I had the pleasure of watching Craig Kielburger speak last year. He was totally an inspiration.
And my sister just told me last night that Gordon Campbell, Premier of BC, went up to her the other day and asked to speak at her club (Student Marketing Association)'s Marketer's Night. You see, there's an election coming up, so he's probably just trying to get some votes from the young people.

Natalie Portman spoke at our campus last year... I think it had something to do with environmental issues.
Vampire Weekend and Clipse performed during my freshman orientation.

Sherman Alexie, a writer/poet. he's very funny & definitely keeps your attention. cool guy! he tells one of those overcoming-hardships kinda stories, but it's not cliche - it's very interesting :]
Cartel, band. i think their music is okay, but they weren't that good live.

NOT FAIR.
Well, a lot of famous people teach at NYU: Spike Lee, Martin Scorsese (at some point, I don't know if he does anymore). I know some kids who got to see
Brokeback Mountain months before it came out when Ang Lee spoke to their classes. Um... Michael J. Fox was at my graduation (getting an honorary degree), as did Michael Strahan (who got an honorary degree as well, and gave a speech). Hmmm... OH! Talib Kweli did a concert my junior year! We had Cool Kids and Crystal Castles last semester. The list goes on and on....
And then, a ton of famous people actually attend the school: Mara Wilson, Haley Joel Osment, the Olsen twins (those f**kin' dropouts), and now James Franco is a grad student there (which made me sad when I found out).

^ Yeah. He didn't say anything though, he was just there =\ I'm surprised Billy Joel wasn't there because I'm fairly certain his daughter graduated with my class.

aww. still, to even be in the same area as Michael J. Fox, ahhh, I LOVE HIM, so for me, it would be SO AWESOME. That's cool.
When I go to a university and out of this commcollege, I hope I get famous speakers at my school.

People come frequently enough, but it's generally no one as exciting as you're going to get at Columbia or NYU. Nader came to campus over the summer, I saw Valerie Plame Wilson speak last year...I should probably pay better attention.
