Tina - you want dense bristles? You should go to Target and Test out Sonia Kushuk's flat top blush brush - it's soooo soft and dense! It's the premium line, so it has a black handle. And it's only $15!!! I love that brush. I've used it for foundation powder and blush.
Idk Ii remember reading somewhere that SE special edition MAC brush sets are of lower quality. ;( You can also see videos on YouTube about comparisons! The SE brushes tend to shed or weren't as dense (which you might not like) so it might be a waste of money in the long run if you plan to use those brushes often. This isn't for all MAC SE brushes, but it's more understandable why the SE sets are priced lower than combining the price of all the regular brushes individually :)

^ I have a holiday SE set. The quality is definitely lower, but for the usage I get out of them, I'm quite satisfied. For one thing, they're a LOT cheaper so I can travel easily with them, and if they get a bit bent out of shape I don't really care. And I mostly just want the 187SE (which is probably one of the better SE versions of the fullsize brushes).
Though I do wanna try the Sephora skunk brush now that Tina said all those things about it, blue goo and all!

Is there any shedding with it when you wash them? I've actually considered the SE holiday brush sets before, but I'm always afraid that each time I wash it (especially for face brushes), it will shed. Some reviewers would post up the downside of the sets

But knowing that you own a set and the brushes still work out fine is good to hear! :D
Gigi
Nov 17 2009, 03:16 AM
Oh shedding...minimal I'd say. The worst one I have is the 224SE, but I still use that one daily because I have not yet replaced it. But I really really hate the 224SE. Really scratchy, doesn't blend for shit. Sheds a bit too.
But all the other SE brushes I have are great - even the 129SE powder/blush brush is good. Yeah, it's not reeeally soft or anything, but softer than a drugstore natural hair brush and I have minimal shedding with it.

Pretty! My best friend might as well be my personal, free makeup artist because she likes doing my makeup, even if that was just one time so far. She's going to have many more chances to do my makeup and teach me how to use it myself this summer, though.

It's sooo convenient ahaha like whenever I go out she offers to do my hair and makeup or if she needs to practice something I'll be her model. She's also going to do hair and makeup on any future photo shoots of mine. Last night she airbrushed my makeup and it looked sooo amazing and this morning she airbrushed a whole bridal party. :]

Wow. May I ask how old she is, and how long she's been doing each of those things? If you ever take a day trip to New York with her, or if I can go to Philadelphia (your school's in West Chester, right?) for a day... ;) I expect to see photography topics from you, featuring your pretty face and hair!

She's actually younger than me, she's almost twenty and has been doing it for about two years now. She does hair and makeup at a nice salon in town that I actually go to, but she also does "freelance" (if I can call it that) hair and makeup on her own. She just got back from California last week working at a makeup design place for two months. She got some pretty cool opportunities to do makeup for fashion shows and even Entourage.

now, my makeup collection is so condensed. i feel like i should get more.

I keep eyeshadows past exasperation. Everything else seems to get dried up/bad if kept to long. Mascara/foundation/eyeliner/ect.

I use powder foundation. lol No lie I've had my powder for about 3.5 years now

And you know what? My skin does not break out from it... Maybe I should buy a new one, but there's so much product left *sigh* I barely even wear powder anyway. Still, it's nice to have.
I've had my eyeshadow pots for awhile now. The only thing I throw away are mascaras. My eyeliner pencils are pretty old, but I sharpen them pretty often (once a week). It's just that I don't wear makeup everyday anymore, but I'm not willing to throw it away. I haven't had any infections yet, but I make sure to spot clean whenever I can. I wipe down my eyelash curler every other time that I use it. I do sanitize my eyeliner every now and then. I'm guilty of having a lipgloss for over two years now, which I use once in a while. It's one of those VS Beauty Rush ones that come in a squeeze tube. Yea I still use it to this day, but I use it probably a few times a month at most.
p.s. Sandy, I use jojoba oil as a moisturizer. During the summer, since I need the spf, I use a shiseido one. The shiseido one is a bit pricey, but it's an average moisturizer. I got it because I had some free $$$ (YOU LOVE FREE $$$, RIGHT?!) at Macy's, so I chose that moisturizer. I'm guilty of having this moisturizer for about 2 years now, but it's taken me so long to finish it since I only use it during the summer! I try to stay indoors as much as possible (or in the shade), but during the summer I go out to the beach, so a moisturizer spf is pretty much a necessity.

if it smells funky, toss it. i've kept liquid foundation for a long time because i hate purchasing make up period. only until recent i started to pay attention to beauty upkeep. i've always put my concentration on hair but now i obsess over eyebrows, foundation, etc.

well, it's not breaking out from expired make up that i fear but more so the aging process. i don't eat enough veggies and fruits or drink enough water to keep my skin healthy. i don't suffer from breakouts either but i have combination oily/sensitive skin so i need foundation.

Yea you're supposed to wear sunblock every day of the year... But whatevz, I don't really worry about it cause I stay out of the sun most of the day anyway!!! 2 minutes max in the sun every time I go outside. The windows of my car are tinted and all have UV protection, yo! If I'm walking around campus, yea I will wear moisturizer with spf 15. It's all good though cause I be hidin' under my hoodie ;]

Stopped using Anastasia cus the powder (Brunette) was too warm/red. Ended up getting a matte eyeshadow from Urban Decay called "Shakedown". It's suuuper cool-toned, verging on purple-y/grey territory, but works great with my light brows + black hair.

i think so, it doesn't nearly dry out my skin like most cleansers too. i bought it because i've heard of people using olive oil to remove makeup. but for me, it doesn't do nearly as clean wash for removing eye makeup. the only problem i have with it is that it smells like old towels.

well, i shaved off half my eyebrows to shape them. but yes, i use them to keep it intact all day long but mostly free from smear. i've used a cheaper revlon brand, the two-in-one gel on one side, pencil on other in the pool before. hahaha i kept asking are my eyebrows gone? still intact :)
