ANYWAY. for some reason i was thinking the other day...they didn't have the whole dazzle thing in the movie, did they? or did i totally miss it?
Hahahha you totally missed it!!
It was SOO LAME, it was hard to watch with a serious face.
It was when she confronts him to being a vampire and then he rushes her off into the woods telling her "up the mountain, pass the whatever, you need to see me when i'm in the sunlight." And then he goes on this rock thing where the light is and......POW! bella dies because of the low special effects. Also they show him dazzling when they stare off into eachother in the meadow after their "lion falls in love with the lamb" deal.

QUOTE(murderwaltz @ Dec 7 2008, 07:24 PM)

the biggest opener for a female director. That was a record embraced by Hollywood feminists as a sign of growing gal power. Now Hardwicke's career will surely be damaged by this very public firing because, even though the pic was skewered by critics, it is already a $160M low-cost blockbuster.
It doesn't matter who directed it; the fangirls still would have turned up to see their beloved Edward in action. It just so happens that the movie had a female director. I'm sure that there are some non-Meyer fans who saw the movie because they like Hardwicke's other films and wanted to see how she would do with this one.

Seriously? It turns out that Bella has this barrier thing that makes it so that no one else can see into her thoughts, and that it can be pushed out of her own mind to protect the ones around her. It's how she protects the big group of vampires at the end of the last book.

i think new moon will definitely play out better. since most of the book is just about bella and jacob all summer. there are major parts in there everywhere, but i don't think it will be hard to narrow it down, you know? i don't think it'll be as rushed as twilight. then again, i could be wrong.

So I bought all the books last night and i finished twilight a hour or so ago. I probably would have finished sooner but I had work last night and stuff. These books are extremely easy to read, I figured they would take me longer than a few hours for being 500 pages or 400 something like that.
Anyway I am extremely disappointed by the movie now that I've read the book.
I hope they get a better director and screen writer this time around for New Moon, I heard that they weren't expecting it though and that they we're finishing the movie in 12 weeks and it would come out next year around thanksgiving.
I don't know how much truth is in that though, someone that Josh works with that is obsessed with these books and stuff was telling me yesterday. But of course I saw somewhere that the movie wasn't even planning to come out until 2010.

i just saw this movie. i wasn't very impressed.
i thought bella and edward kinda sucked at being bella and edward. i thought the cullens and charlie played their parts way better than the rest. charlie was probably my favorite really. i thought the imagery was good...cullen's house, bella's house, mountains, overall scenery and junk like that.
the story was choppy and incoherent imo. if you didn't read the book i'd think you'd be confused. there's too much unspoken dialogue in bella's head in the book that didn't translate well at all over on screen imo. plus i also thought there was no sense of time. it seemed like one day she got there, within in a couple days they were in love, then a few days later they were running from james. it just seemed rushed and didn't make it very clear how drawn out some things were in the book.

"Dear fans of Twilight, New Moon, Bella, Edward and Jacob,
In the past few days I have been involved in a whirlwind romance with Stephenie Meyers' extraordinary books.
And I am very grateful to have received her permission to protect New Moon in its translation from the page to the screen.
For fans of the books and of the film of Twilight, this may come as an unexpected twist. So I want to write briefly to try to put you at ease, and to give you reason to hope for and expect the best.
For the last decade of my career as a director, I have chosen to make adaptations of complex and involved works of literature. This has always begun with the love of a book and its characters, story, and theme; and it has always involved a respect of and responsiveness to the feelings of other people who loved those books.
When I saw the film of Twilight, I was alternately entranced and left hungry for more. I was also struck by the extraordinary passion for the characters, story and theme that was evident in the people sitting in the seats around me. My job is to live up to that devotion.
Like many of you, I am a fan of Catherine Hardwicke's work. I can't really say much about why she is not doing New Moon because I wasn't involved in those decisions. But I can say that I will devote myself to making the very best and most faithful version of New Moon that can be brought to the screen. To those who doubt that as a male director I can capture Bella's experience, I can only say that emotion is universal and that my work has often involved working with some of the most talented actresses in the world.
For the rest, the proof will have to be in the pudding. But I promise to remain responsive to your hopes and fears.
I thank you for this opportunity and for your faith.
Very best,
Chris Weitz"

He was actually my first choice for Jacob, but I felt ok about the Taylor since he fit the age of Jacob in Twilight. However, for some of the juicy stuff that happens in Eclipse, dear LORD... please cast Steven. That is all.
New Moon grew on me the second reading. I was so wrapped up into the Edward thing that I just couldn't get past the lack of o' sparkly one in the book. For some reason, the more repeat reads I do, the more I like Jacob. Although, I'm still left funkified because of the last book. =/ (sorry for the book ranting, but since there's a chance they might all be film adaptations...)
