I installed it on my site via the Elefante installer. Does your host have something similar? I think on other hosts it is usually Cpanel or Fantastico.
You can use notepad to edit or create your themes if that is what you mean. Wordpress uses a lot of PHP though.
Wordpress is awesome. I love it, once you get it set up it really isn't very hard to use, and it has a lot of awesome features.

Ok, I can't log into my file manager right now but I'll try to explain what I did to install it for my site.
In my site control panel I went to the Elefante installer. Then I chose Wordpress from the content management options. Then it obviously told me I had to install a MYSQL database, and there are certain areas on your host to install that. I can't really tell you exactly how to do it since I'm not familiar with your host. But it should have a button or link somewhere to do it. Once you do that just go back to the Wordpress installer on your Cpanel (or whatever you have on your host) and finish installing it. Make sure it is pointed to the database (which it should be) and you're done!

Are you still having a problem? Who's cpanel are you using? Take a screen shot of it or something?

try removing everything and restart. You need to make aMySQL database
and assign a user with all privelleges, then your probably going to need to edit your config.php file [if there is one]
or if you have cpanel, just use fantastico [if installed ] :]
