W3 has a lot of good stuff. If it's only DIVs, there are pinned topics that you can check out.

Yes, knowledge of HTML and CSS is pretty important for making divs.

The best way to learn is by finding some good tutorials and just working with them. The site Dee gave you explains a lot and in detail. I'd stick with the ones under HTML tutorials for now. I don't even bother with the other stuff myself.

there really is no easy way to learn except trial and error. all of those links that everyone put up is very useful and i've used them too. the best when it comes to coding is w3schools.
