i looked in the book of resources and couldn't find anything. does anyone have any good websites for desktop backgrounds?

It really depends on the type of desktops you're looking for. I was going to suggest some, but I realized that all the ones I know are for anime wallpapers, and most people here aren't as interested in that anymore. <_<;;

deviantart.com is a good place for desktops too.

I totally forgot that there are wallpapers on here, too (click). I know so-sarcastic has made a lot of good ones. They're mostly of Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox, though, so they won't be good for you if you're not into that.
