superstitious

For some reason, I'm totally paranoid to clean my monitor. Same thing with my laptop monitors.
I know I can probably google this, but I like reading people's individual experiences better than just getting cold goggle responses.
Any advice? There isn't anything caked on or anything like that, just spots and dusts and the like.

I usually use a Swiffer duster cloth. If my screen is really gross I'll use a damp paper towel.

There are cleaners for monitors, you can find them at stores like best buy and circuit city. You can either get wipes or spray. Don't use paper towels or coarse cloths to clean your monitors, use something really soft.

I use Windex Wipes, which are basically large moist towlettes soaked in Windex.

Never use windex on a monitor. It ruins the coating and can leave your screen blurry and splotchy. Don't use anything ammonia/alcohol based on a monitor.

I use sand paper, 50 grain. Don't use anything above 100.

Hasn't caused any problems on my CRT, to be honest.

I dunno, probably bad for it. But I only clean my LCD about once a year, so...meh.

I use clorox wipes with a dry white microfiber face cloth to dry it off.

We have and LCD TV in our house, and when we bought it it came with this cleaning kit. There's a special spray that you can use with a microfibre cloth to clean the screen. Then you just dry off with the other side of the cloth. There's even this brush thing you can use to brush off any dust. Sort of over-the-top but yeah, that's what we do.
For my monitor though, I usually just use a microfibre cloth to clean off the dust, and if there's a spot I'll use a tissue and water or something.
