I have some on my website that will help with HTML, and there will be one that explains PHP includes up tomorrow. They might be able to help you with a couple things.

Kat your best bet is google. Just search for HTML tutorials and grasp the basics first. Once you've learnt the basics it will be worthwhile having a shot at CSS rather than php, because CSS compliments HTML really really well and will help you in your web designs.

Also, as for FTP there are many free FTP programs, I'd recommend Filezilla.

W3Schools Is a good place to learn a bit. Maybe not good tutorials but a good site to refer to for code help.

As for ftp FileZilla is good.

Also make sure you get a good web editor. Personally i use Dreamweaver but that may be a bit expensive if your just starting. Notepad++ is good for coding hints and should be ok for PHP. But for HTML its better to have visual and code editing side by side and for that I'd recommend KompoZer which I've been wanting to try out for a while. Also both of the are free which is a +.
