Mmkay...I know it's over a month away, but I'm kinda excited for the show to come back.
Btw...in that last teaser poster ^^, that isn't Blair/Leighton Meester. Apparently it's this cougar-type character played by Madchen Amick, idk who that is.
"Amick, 37, will appear in the first few eps of the new season as cougar Catherine Mason and tempt Nate Archibald (Crawford, 22) with a May-December romance. In the first four or five episodes, it will also be revealed that Amick’s character will also have “a surprising connection to another new character on the show.”

& also...CW is switching channels again?! Merger between CW & Fox

I've only read one of the books. The show seems interesting though, but I'm only one for catching things when they're a month old.
Did you hear about the moms complaining about the racy pictures. I bet those are the miley-hater moms too.

This show is my pathetic guilty pleasure. It's so addicting. Watch one episode and you're dying to find out what's next. I have like, 1/2 of season one on my iPod.
Haha, in the previews, Blair calls Chuck a "Mother-Chucker". I found it amusing.

A collection of season two teasers:
The show will return for an extra-long twenty-four episode (to compensate for missing episodes last season due to the writer's strike) second season on September first. [

Sigh. Gotta love a guilty pleasure.
See, I don't feel guilty. Although the show is consistently described as a guilty pleasure, which I can understand, I honestly consider it quality television. I think the show has a perfectly satirical angle in its (actually) profound social commentary. The New York Magazine said:
QUOTE
In fact, the show has resurrected the potential for scripted dramas to be effective social satire—to present a world more accurately than a "reality" program can. Gossip Girl presents a wealth-eye view of the city, but because it is a cartoon we can laugh along with the conspicuousness of the consumption. Living among the wealthy in New York is an experience of queasy ambivalence—we find their antics both mesmerizing and icky. But on Gossip Girl, we do not have to judge them, or ourselves. The show mocks our superficial fantasies while satisfying them, allowing us to partake in the over-the-top pleasures of the irresponsible superrich without anxiety or guilt or moralizing. It’s class warfare as blood sport. And, as Blair Waldorf might say, that’s entertainment.
Further, I think the writing, the acting, the set and costume design...
all spectacular. Show creator
Josh Schwartz has a style of satire and 'upper-class decadence/lower-class sensibility' mixing, first established in his (stupidly popular) teen drama The O.C., that is actually amazingly resonate. Sure, the concept eventually committed suicide somewhere in some overpriced-human-slave-ridden-orange-county-mansion... but, it's really been revived in Manhattan... the streets of New York City. Better writing, a more talented cast, and a much more thoughtful production has granted
Schwartz the sort of power he needs in order to effectively weave his tales of class confusion, adolescent pain, and sorted romance. And I, for one, find it to be utterly brilliant. So, in perfect honesty, and despite my snobbery, I can say that I am not the least bit guilty that I love Gossip Girl.
xo xo.

Edit: After doing some googling, I found out that the guy who plays Marcus, Patrick Heusinger, is from Florida. I don't get this, okay, so they have Ed Westwick, a genuine Brit, playing an American and they couldn't get a Brit to play a Brit?

I'm so happy that Jenny is nice again...
I didn't expect Dan and Serena to get back together so quickly though. There could have been at least a little fighting, right? The thing with Dan being a player was kind of odd, since it was just kind of a big jump.
And while I feel really bad for Chuck, I can't completely blame Blair for being so stubborn.

it's total bullshit that Eric let Jenny use him like that without even making her feel miserable for what she did. I never liked her character in the first place. I mean..she's already going to this elite private school and all she can think about is making friends rather than grades. At least Dan has a good head above his shoulders (he can get the girl AND the grades).
I love Blair but for some reason the acting on second season premier seemed totally unnatural. Like, they sped it all up. And the British thing was just lame to the extreme. I loved the dinner part after Blaire got back when Chuck starts throwing information about Blair to her "boyfriend". What was even more priceless was when he found out about the guy's identity. LOL

Yeah, Jenny being a bitch didn't suit her at all. It's also completely antithetical to her character in the books.
I also agree with you on the Dan and Serena issue. There wasn't nearly enough drama with them this episode. You know what? I don't like them together. They're both so... lame, you know? No one (at least on tv dramas) deserves to be that happy with each other. But it looks like they're going to be taking a backseat to this whole Blair/Chuck story, which is infinitely more interesting.
And Blair isn't exactly stubborn (I think you might've used the wrong word), she's no nonsense when it comes to her relationships. She would love to be with Chuck, but Chuck isn't mature/ready/whatever enough. Can't blame him though, with a dad like that.
angelrevelation
Sep 6 2008, 07:42 PM
^ That is true about Chuck being immature, but Blair still knows that he loves her, even though he can't say it yet. I dunno, I've always had a soft spot for him, despite his perverted side

And that Catherine can go... f**k off. Is anyone one else completely done with Marcus?
angelrevelation
Sep 15 2008, 10:02 PM
I don't think it's drama drama between D and S... It's just more sexual tension IMO
Is Marcus' accent really fake? I can't tell. But I think he's really nice, although a little unbelievable considering he's with Blair. Catherine is pretty annoying too. I wish more would come up with Lily. I want to know how she's finding married life with Bart. We never did get to know why she chose to stay with him, that one time right before her wedding.
Next week's episode is going to be really crazy.
