What the hell has happened to this place? It has gotten to be really boring around here as of late. Now I know that as a mod, I am not supposed to say that, but it is honestly how I feel.
Some of you people need to leave cb, as it has turned into consuming your lives, and you are starting to look petty and childish at the minimum.

If you notice, the same bullshit topics are getting bumped left and right, and everything in cb seems to be going in one big circle. There are only so many times when you can honestly say that it is slow because of summer. Hell, I have more interesting convos and discussions on cbc than I do in cb. As a matter of fact, cbc is way more active than cb is.

My point is this, we have got to start changing things up in the form of new topics, people, and what not. This place really could use a stiff kicking in the ass. I remember when I first joined back in November, I would post like 100 times a day....Now I am lucky if I post 6 or 7 times a day.

COME ON PEOPLE! WAKE UP AND LET'S START MAKING THIS PLACE HAPPENING AGAIN!

I think if the forums are redone, it would be good if we get sections more along the lines of Facepunchstudios, and implement their custom forum feature.

Prince while I agree with you, a lot of what you said in your last post is being done right now. We do have a lot of these rules that you mentioned, and I myself as well as other staff members try to implement them daily. It is not one sided though, as we also need you guys help too.

That forum also has a regiban, meaning if you register while you're banned, all your accounts and alts get permabanned.

One of the mods there is 12. Age range goes from 9 to 42 at Facepunch.

Rules there are:
1. This rule list is not total, the excuse 'it wasn't on the rules list' isn't applicable. This is not a democracy.
2. Respect each other. Don't call each other names.
3. Don't reply to a thread just to say it's shit.
4. Don't troll. Don't reply to a thread about The Simpsons to say that Family Guy is better.
5. If someone does something wrong, report them. Flaming or attacking them will get you banned.
6. Don't reply to threads that are made with the intent of the user getting banned (ban me threads)
7. Nudity is fine. If you want to post pictures of an erect penis or penetration of any kind do not [img] tag it.
8. Don't post child porn.
9. Purposely breaking any of these rules with an alt account will get all your accounts permabanned.

18. If you're replying to a thread asking for help, HELP OR DO NOT POST.
19. Advertising your website is fine as long as it's relevant.
20. Don't steal stuff and claim it as yours. Don't use this rule as an excuse to bitch if you're not credited for your work. They need to claim that they made it.
21. Read the thread before replying. If you reply to a thread based on thread title you will get banned.
22. Don't make new threads to announce your birthday. No-one cares.
23. Don't make threads to get us to make up your mind about something ie 'Should I get a PS3 or XBox360?'. Make up your own mind. Don't use this rule as an excuse to flame people for making a thread to ask opinions ie 'What is the best MP3 player?'
24. Posting Image Macros will get you banned. It isn't clever. Just use words.
25. Replying with hilarious meme's like 'Stick it in her pooper' will get you banned.
26. Replying to threads like you were the guy they were talking about in the first post isn't funny.
27. Making obvious threads to earn ratings will get you banned.
28. DO NOT ACCESS THE FORUMS VIA A PROXY. If you're viewing the site through a proxy and you have the same IP as someone using that proxy to spam you will also get permabanned. I don't care if your school blocks the forums.
29. Don't make threads about how unfair your school is.
30. Don't make threads about religion, unless it's in a religion forum.
31. Don't make threads about dreams, unless it's in a dreams forum.
32. Don't make threads asking if your computer can run a game.
33. This is not an obituary forum. Don't post threads about how your relative/friend/cat died.
34. Blindly defend Facepunch, even when you know you're wrong.

Basically these new members and younger ones, are all wannabes of the older veteran cB members. We got the wannabe troll, wannabe pretty boy, wannabe spam girl, etc. They are all wannabes and it's pretty lame, hence why cB goes in cycle and repeats itself.

The new crowd isn't crap. It's just that a lot of them get the wrong impression of CB, leave, and most likely never come back. The ones that survive the initial bashing given to them by the veterans think that the right way to avoid further bashing is to flame the veterans back, and to start flaming other newbies that try to post. That's a misguided, but understandable way of thinking. If you're faced with threats to your pride, reputation, etc., you're going to want to fight back, and also lash out at whoever else you can, and sometimes you end up looking dumb. Other members see your mistake, make fun of you for it, and unless you handle it the right way, they'll keep picking at you until they drive you away or break you down completely. It's just in human nature to do that, and unfortunately, it's manifested itself to an extreme on CreateBlog.

Another problem that I see is that most CB veterans seem to have forgotten what it was like to be new here. I don't know firsthand what CB was like in 2004 (it seems like people were less harsh to newbies back then), but it shouldn't matter what year it is, or how much you want to mock someone you think is "lower" than you. It doesn't matter if "it's just the Internet" and that it's "not my fault if people get hurt so easily"; that doesn't mean that you can't learn to be less cruel to the poor newbies trying to have fun here.

I don't know... I mean, I was a newbie not too long ago and nobody really tried to bash me. I think it all depends on the way you present yourself. (But then again, it might have been my "joined" date that tricked some people...). And thanks, Tung.

I do see where you're coming from, though, Cristy. There has been a few somewhat newer members that had the potential to be liked by everyone, but they probably saw how the more 'popular' cB members interacted and decided to follow their lead.

javonn, maybe you get the feeling because you're on staff. it seems like you have to be on top of your game at all times and you can't randomly have conversations which equals lower post counts per day. i felt the same way when i was a mod which resulted in a bunch of days where i didn't even post or do anything.
