On one thread somewhere it mentions that all resources need credit and that all art taken from DA or other art galleries need written permission.
But all new layouts being accepted aren't even listing where they get their resources from which clearly violates the terms of use for pretty much everything.

I mean 99.9 percent of resource creators demand credit for their work (many layout submitters here demand credit as well)and yet many people here submitting their layouts aren't even posting any sort of credit for any thing they take.

Whatever happened to that whole idea of it being a requirement that submitters post credit even if its from google/photobucket < which aren't very reliable sources
Photobucket is the biggest source for theft. and people who take from google are blind to the huge window that clearly shows what site it came from.

Its just not fair to the people making all these brushes and textures and getting no recognition.

That still is a requirement; however, to our knowledge until now it had not been an issue. I hate to ask you to do this, but could you give us some examples of recent ones you've seen (I dunno if you'll hafta go back and find them)? I ask simply because it helps us address the issue better.

It would be nice if they listed their resources, but a lot of times that doesn't happen. Or they forget when they got an image that they have on their computer. I don't accept layouts that use images from DA, because they are copywritten. I have come across a lot of brushes that are from DA and the user has given credit. The funny thing is, is that the person who makes the layout demands credit, but they don't credit anyone else for where they got the stuff from.

I do plenty of things that don't get recognition *shrug*

i know... i credit everything and make it a habit to do so for all my layouts and graphics submitted.

now that I think of it I've been a hypocrite, I'll credit my layouts from now on :[ :] , however I dont know if this is coming off as rude but I think the standards are dropping dramatically :[

yeah, i need to start doing that.
but its true about having the images saved.
cause lets say you get an image off photobucket.
no one really owns it. its just there.
and who would you credit it to then?

well to solve the problem don't take pics off of photobucket. Its not a source... its a image hosting site.

and yes standards have dropped a lot.

Many designers shouldn't rely on it for their resources as well. It only causes problems for you.

Enraptured has credits, as well as Frozen Sunshine. Just thought I'd say.

It's hard to find people who are using your stuff without crediting, because there's nothing linking back to you. Plus, I've come to find that most people don't really care about Xanga and Myspace layouts with un-credited resources; it's the well-known sites that get lots of visitors and "OMG YOUR LAYOUTZ ARE SO AWESOME!!!" kind of comments that receive the most scrutiny in regards to credits.

and yeah that does sound rushed. many just give up others just get pissed.
it only makes sense to ask for credit if someone uses your layout if you follow your own advice and credit those you take from.

It does make sense, but unfortunately, not everyone is as conscientious as you or me. (I don't even know if that's the right word.)

The thing that sucks is that it's pretty hard to catch people who are using your stuff without giving credit if you don't know where to look. Quite frankly, I don't know how to look - the only jockers I've ever come across are by accident/chance, or someone else reported it to me.

same here. I catch them here most of the time. and yeah others report them to me.
