A blog. You watch Grey's too Spencer? We should have man-to-man conversations about this! laugh.gif
Joanne
TR and Katherine are both great actors and are like BFFs, so it seems right that they both want to leave a show with increasingly crappy storylines. It still sucks, though... George and Izzie are my favourite Grey's characters.
superstitious
Shit's falling apart because Shonda is a moron. Seriously. She's had a fantastic group of actors to work with, amazing storyline potential and a pretty loyal fanbase. Seriously, how is she able to f*ck things up with such ease? It really pisses me off.

What she's doing with Izzy is a f*cking insult to viewers and loyal fans. I won't get into it, if you need to know, read spoilers.

TR Knight wanting to leave doesn't surprise me at all. They've given him NOTHING. NOTHING! Instead they reward newcomers with decent storylines and neglect the actors that have been a mainstay on the show. They f*cked up what could have been a good storyline with Callie and Erica and instead of taking responsbility for it, they f*cking fire the actress that plays Erica.

Sorry, but Shonda Rhimes just pisses me off.

On a strange note, I started streaming The Practice this weekend and have found it far more enjoyable than Grey's is right now.
superstitious
I've missed a couple of episodes. Question. Do I want to potentially poke my eye out? (Seems to be a recurring theme of shows I typically like pissing me off this season/year)
technicolour
Whoa, wait. They fired Erica?! Seriously?

Tung
lol alot of the doctors from Private Practice guest appeared on last week episode's
technicolour
It was a crossover event!

Sheppherd saved Archer, Addison's brother.

^ She has cancer?

hi-C
Izzie has cancer; they mislabeled the blood of that other chick patient, who has anemia, and Izzie. Figures though, with the hallucinations and shit.
superstitious
Eh, it makes sense that she has some type of cancer (brain?). I just get irritated when a show takes the ultra dramatic way out for someone. I mean, couldn't she just leave Seattle Grace? Or maybe go to another department? Why the drawn out melodrama with Denny?
hi-C
^ Oh god, do you remember when they killed off Dr. Greene on ER? sad.gif
superstitious
Nah. I stopped watching ER because of the same type of issue I typically have with med-dramas. Grey's has been the exception to my anti med drama stance because there was so much humor within the show. That and the cast had such exceptional chemistry overall and the writing was really good for the first couple of seasons. In the third season, I saw a decline in the quality of writing, but overall the show was still very good. The fourth took a huge hit, mostly because they lost a couple of major players (Burke and Addison) and the writing strike (that was during the fourth season, right?). Because of those things, my patience wasn't all that pushed.

This season, however, started off wonderfully and I was very pleased and actually thought that the show was returning back to good form. However, once they started with the Denny thing (I mean, come on, an episode or two I can understand but they seriously went overboard with it, especially with the outstanding chemistry between Alex and Izzy). Then they got rid of Hahn, which I understood, but thought that the abruptness of it was, well, too abrupt. I also thought that it was unfair to punish/fire an actress because of bad writing and storyline choices.

Hehe, sorry for the epic response to a simple question.
hi-C
Is Burke the one played by Isiah Washington? I've only just started watching Grey's this season.

I, too, hate how they got rid of Hahn, only to have Callie go after another blonde woman who looks just like Hahn. If they were gonna do all of that, they should've kept her on the show.
superstitious
It is, and he was wonderful as Burke. I felt a huge gap when he left. The reason was ridiculous (he had made some questionable reference to the guy that plays George sexuality). People are far too sensitive.

Go back and watch seasons 1 and 2 if you get a chance. You'll more than likely feel my angst.

And NO JOKE. She went from blond/blue eyed bitch to blond/blue eyed hyper happy chick. I like the new peds surg girl, but I don't get the direction the storyline is going. It's like a broken record. Callie deserves better. The actress is very good and could handle something more.

This has been a problem for a while. Grey's is broken because they focus far too much on Derek and Meredith and give the shit storylines/half assed writing to the other characters/actors. If I were Heigl, I'd want to leave too. Same with the actor that plays George. (I have no idea why his name escapes me right now)
hi-C
TJ Knight? TR Knight? I know it T-some-other-initial Knight.

And Meredith and Derek are BORING, minus last night when he and that other dude beat the shit out of each other (that was pretty awesome). Meredith is trés trés boring. I understand that the show is basically named after her but come on. The other characters are so much more interesting.
superstitious
TR Knight. That's it!

And totally. I don't get the Dempsey fascination at all. Good hair, it's true but I prefer him during the Can't Buy Me Love days. (I have a thing for geeks)

Also, Sloan is so hot. One thing I am glad for this season is that he's at least been given more to do than to be the token man whore.

hi-C
I know that Derek was all upset because his patient died (OMG, how terrible was that? I got a little teary) but why would Sloan's relationship with Meredith's sister (her name escapes me right now) set him off?
superstitious
He had made Sloan promise not to sleep with little Grey. I think that Meredith might have asked him to do that, I can't remember but I definitely remember Derek asking Sloan to abstain.
hi-C
Ohhhhh... okay. I must've missed that episode. I think I came in when Denny just started to make his posthumous ghostly appearances.
superstitious
Bah. I can't believe how much they bastardized Denny. Denny was one of those beloved and tragic characters and they practically neutered him and basically pissed all over the memory of such an oustanding storyline.
rnicron
it's new tonight. oh shit.
Joanne
Man I haven't watched Grey's since Denny came back, and now I'm just trying to figure out what's up through these comments........... So Izzie has brain cancer? I'm so sad she's going to leave the show; she and TR Knight were my favourite characters. Are there still rumours going around that TR's leaving Grey's too?
superstitious
My god, the scene with that little girl dying in her dad's arms. good lord :*(
rnicron
so now that izzie is married, she'll die, right? ha
Tung
im sure she'll die in the season finale, and the episode is gonna be really sad like when dan died.
technicolour
This last episode was so damn depressing. Wedding or not. Uuber depressing, man.
superstitious
Honestly, this show sucks the life out of me right now. Seriously, my energy was completely drained during the last couple of episodes.

only-tuesdays
Oh my goodness. The episode tonight. Wow.

a completely brutal season finale.

It completely bothered me that George ended up being john doe; wouldn't one who was about to enlist have tons of identification with him?
And why was he uniformed at the end? Though it certainly helped aestically, it's ridiculous, and much to early, to have already regard him as a military personel. I guess the whole heroic gesture towards the woman made this make sense a little...

I doubt they're keeping TR, he has royally messed up his face and he'll just be another Ava. If they keep the character they'll probably pursue a different actor. Whilst izzie will stay for she is actually one with strong acting abilities, not implying that TR doesn't but he barely had screentime this season; despite the annoying trait carried by her character a la hallucinations and denny, she has definitely kept the bulk of this storyline going.

In contract reality, both of the actors' are up, and both, stress on TR, have voiced out of leaving the show...

It was a brutal ending of the season; it'll be a long summer.

It's funny that you mention Ava. I had nearly the same conversation/outcome with my mother last night. I love George and he would be so missed if he dies, but I've become used to missing him already. I say that because TR has been given very little in the way of material. I don't, at all, blame the actor for wanting to leave the show. That being said, I wish that Shonda and co. would get a f*cking clue sometimes. Putting aside George to force Hahn down our throats in the beginning of the season was a terrible mistake.

I'm iffy with Izzie. The elevator scene, while poignant and bittersweet, had her in that same goddamn prom dress. You would think that after the gross overuse of Denny this year that they'd move on from that. What also pisses me off is about that has to due with my intepretation of George being in uniform in that scene. It's no uncommon for writers to use the idea of being where they wanted to be when they die, in the thematic sense, when they should characters in death limbo (ie Mer with the dog after she had drowned). If this is true, that means that Izzy still hasn't let go of Denny. I never thought I'd say this, but f*ck Denny. Great character, but it's DONE already.
superstitious
I have never been fond of Shonda Rhimes. I listened to the Grey's podcast once and I wanted to through my iPod across the room. She is a very narcissistic, self congralutatory person. At least, that is the impression I have of her whenever I hear her talk or read her interviews.

Oh and intepreting or finding symbolism in the show is part of what makes it fun to watch. This isn't Lost (which I am a fan of), so the symbolism doesn't smack you in the face. It's more subtle, which I appreciate.
fameONE
George was commissioned, he was not enlisted.

I so wanted Izzy to die, as morbid as that sounds. After Denny, she was a worthless character.
hi-C
They "brought him back from the dead" and he an Izzie had "sex." It was all in her head, and our indication that bitch was either going crazy or was crazy sick. Turns out it was the latter.
hi-C
Well, it's safe to say George is dead. With Izzie, it's not so clear.

Essentially, that's what I'm thinking. I watched the finale again last week. It was even more difficult to watch the second time around. I love George. He's the character I'm most attached to, the character I most connected to. I've hated that he wasn't given material this season. I've said this before, but I firmly believe that Shonda and co. have been terribly ridiculous in their choices this year.

maybe someone of you missed the memo that tr and katherine chose to leave the show...how else do you want them to get rid of them?

Maybe they missed the memo that good writing and storylines keep actors around.
Rachel
I'd much rather keep George and get rid of Izzie. She got sooooo annoying as the series progressed. She was always my least favorite of the group, especially when she decided to go for George. I was like WTF slut, he wanted you for so long and finally got with someone who loves him. Guh.
only-tuesdays
Anyone hear of this?

Apparently it's official. George is gone, and Izzie stays. I can't wait for the premiere now....I wonder if that was his last scene, or if they'll have a bit more in the premiere.
superstitious
I loathe anything related to perezhilton, but I did read about this in People.

No doubt. I didn't even finish watching last week's episode. Grey's has always been melodramatic but this is just ridiculous.

I'm glad Izzy is out (for a while, at least). I used to love that character but not so much anymore. I would have rather had George stay at this point, to be honest.
