It annoys me when people have innaproprite sigs and the F word as their username.
With this many mods, I thought someone would do something about it...

Actually, I totally understand where you're coming from.
I personally don't mind them, but as an ex-mod I'd think all this sort of ish woulda been straight busted. Especially bash topics.
Anyway I'm not naming names 'cause snitchin's wack, but I really gotta wonder wtf is the staff doing to keep the community alive these days? (Some of you guys are all good though, you know who you are.)

We have discussed this Backstage, but we can't force people to remove or change their signatures if the people in them don't have any inappropriate parts exposed. If too many signatures bother you, go to My Controls > Board Settings > turn off members' signatures. :\
Also, only Head Staff and Administrators have the power to edit members' avatars and signatures, and only
Administrators Jusun (micron) can change usernames.

The real problem is:
WHERE'S JUSUN?
libertie
Jun 24 2008, 09:56 PM
^Also, unfortunately changing usernames is a no-go for us as well. Only Jusun can reset a user's "change date" so they can change their username, and Sean just happened to decide to try to push his limits that day. If there was something we could do about it, we certainly would have by now.

I honestly think that from now on if anyone has a signature that I would be ashamed of at work or school (like if someone looks over my shoulder and sees it), it should be removed. I'm getting tired of seeing it, too, and I can't adblock anything here because there's no telling what the link might get changed to.

I am glad to see that there are people who agree with me.
I have to close the forums everything my mom walks by because I don't want her to see any of the smut in the sigs.

what is considered pg-13 is irrelevent. there are different levels of propriety everywhere. just like how some people don't mind watching movies that include sexual content with their parents, while others wouldn't even stay in the same room.
i personally have hidden all the sigs due to the recent incidents, mainly 'cause a lot of the .gifs are bothersome to the eye when trying to read ;o. however, it's true that i wouldn't want my family seeing me looking at this forum either.

Anyways... I guess I am just going to have to turn off sigs. It stinks that I have to do this just because a few people cross the line. well whatever

I have to say I agree with every word. I just chalk it up to maturity. Some people just aren't mature enough, and the only person it hurts is themselves. They make the choice to make their username explicint or put rather nasty things in their signature.
I'm not a prude, I just have the class to know what is and isn't mature in certain places.

I agree that sometimes there are some "tasteless" things in the signatures. But there are also some pretty tasteless remarks made in the actual posts. Most of it can be attributed to the maturity level around here.
I've been using CB for a very very long time now. Never really been a member of the forums, but I've used the resources a lot. I remember back when I first started coming here how it was more of a resource community, with a community. Now it is a community, with a resource section. People can't even ask honest questions in the resource forums without having at least one person making a snide remark. Of course there are going be be "stupid" questions, and annoying people. There are always going to be. That is just a part of life. How many new members have left recently because of remarks made to them by senior members? How many people join, and never post because they see the treatment other people get?
Basically, CB needs a facelift all around. Not just in the signatures.

you don't need to register to read the resource forums for help. i'm just saying that i
highly doubt she is actually calling two months a long time since after she said she had being using it a long time she pointed out that it wasn't as a member. so i dont think you should discredit her opinion based on a register date is all i'm saying.

i don't agree that creatblog is more of a community than a resource center. i mean i don't see how it could be. the majority of the visits cb gets are for it's resources, not it's forum community. right?
i still think the resource aspect of cb dominates, and always will.

Jun 28 2008, 03:13 PM
The resource center definitely is the main thing which drives members in. However, if you look at the active users, there are very few who come and post regularly (and exclusively) in the resource center. There are by far more who only post in the community center and don't touch the resource forums, and don't use the layouts either.
